Shady Point scored again in the first and then two more in the third. Our guys also scored two more in the third but time ran out for them. The game finally ended with a 6-4 loss for us. What a game Merle! ~ With 1 win & 1 loss our team played on Saturday in the 1980 Rink at 10:00 a.m. against a team from Acton, Ontario. The Acton team scored 2 quick goals in the first period with Port Perry scoring one. In the second period Port Perry scored 3 more goals. Acton came back with 2 goals. In the third period Acton got a goal 1:57 into the period. This made the score 5-4 for Acton. Then with only 24 seconds left in the game Wayne Fox scored mak- si ing it a 5-5 tie and putting us into the Medal Round on Sunday. Saturday Night the team with their wives and girlfriends attend- ed the Banquet at the Holiday Inn. During the evening they had a slide show of the events that went on during the tournament. What a show! The game on Sunday was played in the U.S.A. Rink for the Bronze Medal. After a-well rested night the Bandits met a team from Toronto. With 6:08 left in the first period we were 2 men short. Toronto had a lot of shots on Merle. The goal post got in the way for our big scorers. With 41 seconds left in the first period, Merle made another great save. The first period end- ed 0-0. We finally got on the score board at 10:38 in the second period, goal by Brian Samis, assisted by Tim Kane & Bill Hayes. The fans went wild! With 4 minutes left in the period the pace is still fast with both teams getting lots of shots. Toron- to got on the score board with 2:04 left in the period. Lee Wilbur got us back into the lead again with only 36 seconds left in the second period. In the third period our -guys couldn't buy a goal with, Bill, Lee & Larry having many chances. Even two of our guys had break- aways and the Toronto goalie stopped them. This period was proving to be a goalies game. With 1:25 left in the game, Toronto pulled their goalie. Merle stopped two big shots again. Bill Bridge scored with 18 seconds left in the game into an empty net. The final score was 3-1 for the Port Perry Bandits and we brought home the Bronze! We are also glad to see Wayne Fox is going to be all right as he was hurt in the third game. A special Thank-you goes out to Mike for organizing this trip for us and to Larry Emmerson for the tickets to the HandleBar. The Ban- dits defeated a team from the Toronto area 3-1 in the bronze medal g with an empty net goal to salt away the victory. Lake Placid was the of the 1932 Olympics and the 1980 Olympics where the Americans won the old medal.
