Nestleton Presbyterian Church The morning service of Nestleton Presbyterian Church, May 8th, was held at 10 a.m. with Rev. Fred Swann in charge. Joyce Taylor was the capable organist. Psalm 34 was read responsive- ly and Scripture reading was Isaiah 55 and Mark 10. With a number of friends and relatives in attendance the ser- vice of Dedication of Kevin Patrick Deeth, son of Mr. & Mrs. Carl Deeth; and Katlin Irene Fleiler, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Fleiler was held. Mr. George Scott, Clerk of Session assisted Rev. Swann. During the offertory, Miss Alison Scott sang, 'Happy the Home'. Rev. Crawford preached from Ruth-Ch. 2 and I Samuel-Ch.I. His message was entitled "Mothers Used of God" - a strong sermon! The lessons were read by Norma Arney and Pat Halverson. Kathy Watts played the organ. Lots and lots of Daffodils were given to all Mothers! Next Sunday for a warm welcome and a fine sermon. Very Best Wishes! We're happy to report Irma Welts of Nestleton is home. .after approximately 8 weeks in Toron- to General Hospital. She is feeling some better but room for im- provement! Our best to friend Irma! - Anne Harran has had eye surgery this past week in Oshawa Hospital, and is doing great we are glad to say. Anne is made of durable stuff! . John & Marion Hall are home from Oshawa Hospital recuperating. We trust they will soon be feeling great and enjoy- ing life! Our best to the grand couple! George & Ella Bowers are showing improvement so keep up the good work folks! Albert Harper is coming along well now in Port Perry Hospital..very happy about that! Keep progressing Albert! Nestleton United Church With a good attendance greeters at the door were Ralph & Leona Sadler for the Family Day Service. Carol Hill was the usher and Carol Mairs - the pianist. The Junior Choir sang a number with Betty Headon at the piano. : Scripture John 15: 9-17 and I John 5: I-5 was read and Minister Richard Choe used as his sermon topic, "Family In Christ" - a family day message. Rev. Dale Davis presented the Prayer. The evening UCW Unit will meet at the home of Kay Notman this Wednesday at 8 p.m. Roll Call - An exchange of plants or seeds. Hughie was a fine Scot- tish gentleman - well liked by everyone who knew him - and was a Past Master of Fidelity Lodge No 428 and Past Patron of Blue Ray Chapter, No 238. We cherish his memory! Caesarea Euchre. (April 27) At the Wed. evening Euchre, first prize was a tie between Nor- man Rohrer & Glenn Dean. Albert Watts was low. Glenn Dean held 16 lone hands for the 'month of April. The lunch was hosted by Teresa Berkers & Cor- rine Wood. At the May 4th Euchre - first prize went to Linda Lavoie with 83. Second - Glen Lowrey with 79. Faith Lawrence 46. Lunch by Teresa & Corrine again! Mother's Day Activities Dr. & Mrs. W.F. MacKenzie of Toronto, were weekend guests of son Richard & Janice MacKenzie, Claire & Leslie, of Nestleton. Audrey Leishman of Reaboro, attended Church Service at Nestleton with her mother Mrs. Neta Fish, and enjoyed luncheon and a visit with her after at her apartment. Neta was a dinner rr EE TS TTA er i Ee guest with son Calvin & Yvonne Holland, Chad, Craig, and Alan- na Dawn - a special Mother's Day meal! Alan & Eleanor Cawker of Oshawa, were Mother's Day guests with Sam & Mabel Cawker - a great visit over the luncheon hour catching up on family news. Roy & Doris Nottingham of Caesarea, hosted members of their family for Mother's Day. Those present were: Ken & Barb & family of Lindsay, Gary & Margit and family of R.R.1, Oshawa, Jack & Karel & family of Nestleton, and Nancy Not- tingham Reid and husband Greg Reid of Sunderland. A great fami- ly party! Successful Events Held The Nestleton Hall Board Pan- cake Brunch held on Sunday in keeping with Mother's Day at the Community Centre was a suc- cess. Also - the Nestleton UCW Spring Smorgasborg on Friday evening was a good money rais- ing venture. We thank the Port Perry Star for excellent coverage re - the Smorgasborg!
