Driver of the car, Douglas Davies, of Oshawa apparently swerved to avold another vehicle that stopped to make a left turn. He left the road and rammed Into a culvert. Police sald the injuries were not be- lieved to be serlous. The accident took place In front of Redman's Fish and Chips on the Island Road the afternoon of June 8. The driver of the car has been charged with careless driving. For the series of the best 8 of 11 was Stan Dick with a score of 609, second was Vera Brown with a score of 601. Draw prizes went to Bernice Loudfoot, Vera Brown & Iva Yake. Freeze-out winners were Berneice Wells & Gladys Slack, Ernie Luke & Corless Ashenhurst were second. There will be another euchre in two weeks. The Sunday School had a very impressive service on Sunday in Utica United church in recogni- tion of the past year. Following the opening by Mrs. Irene Fielding, the Junior Choir sang "We Are God's Children'. Scrip- ture reading was by Keren Skelding and the Psalm was led by Sally irving. The little darlings of the Nursery class led by Faye Ashton sang "My Best Friend is' .Jesus". Pat Sutherland's Primary Class had a mural of thanks, and the Intermediate class Robert Ashton & Collette Bertrand a dialogue "If God Should Speak'. Offering was received by the Primary Class boys and Linda Irving's - Kindergarten class led the con- gregation in singing of Hymn 200. The service clos- ed with the singing of '"We Are The Church' which was followed by benediction. Church service this week will be held in Epsom Church at 11:15 a.m. which will be followed by potluck lunch and the Sunday School picnic. There will be a prize for the best decorated hat and of course the races, games etc. Old and young alike are in- vited to attend. Sunday visitors with Mrs. Irene Fielding were Jim & Jean Allard of Toronto. Jim & Rose Philip recently at- tended the graduation of their grandaughter Heather Sooley from Simon Fraser University of Burnaby, B.C. Get well wishes to Jim Philip who is recuperating from hip surgery in Toronto East General Hospital. I just had word of the passing of a former Utica resident, Mr. Henry Gibner.
