The Port Perry Tennis Club was weil represented with teams of Beth Charles and Diane Burt; Laurie Cooper and Winnie Tobin and the men's team of Ralph Ballard and John Scott. Everyone reported on having a lot of fun, good tennis and really keen participants. That's what this crazy sport is all about! The Club is doing well in the Kawartha League. Port is in the lead against Fenelon Falls, peter- borough and Lindsay. Port Perry played in Peterborough the night of June 1st, under the skies of a 'blue moon', and woz with a score of 4-2. Georgia and Heather toured the beautiful countryside of Peterborough county and were enthralled, to say the least, of how helpful people were when we stop- ped to ask for directions! " Pee Wee boys softball action On Monday, May 23, 1988, Irwin Smith beat D.J. Taylor in PeeWee Softball Action by the score of 7 to 14 in a very close game. Andrew Pereman was the winning pitcher for Irwin Smith by pitching 4 solid innings and connected for a dou- ble at the plate. Gary Norton pit- ched three shut out innings for D.J. Taylor. With great pitching by Andrew Pereman and good hits from Nathan Brown and Travis Guin- don, Irwin Smith solidly beat Standard Electric by the score of 15 to 2 on May 30, 1988. For Stan- dard Electric, Adam Johnston pit- ched 3 good innings while Jake Luke and Mike Sluggett each scored one run. D.J. Taylor beat Seagrave Park by the score of 15 to 12 with Jeremy Davidson hitting a double to drive in the winning run. Louis Whitfield pitched 3 solid innings for D.J. Taylor. On June 6, 1988, Sean Ball hit a home run in the bottom .of the . final inning to break the tie so that D.J. Taylor could beat Standard Electric by the score of 11 to 8. Gary Norton connected on a home run as well for D.J. Taylor while Kevin O'Neil made some good catches in the outfield. Cory Bricknell pitched well by striking out 5 batters for Standard Elec- tric while Adam Johnston played well as catcher and hit a home run. Pete King and Kevin Pearce each made a great catch at se- cond and short stop respectively to help out Standard Electric. Jake Waznicky pitched well for Brian's Towing during 3 innings, to help beat Seagrave Park by the score of 13 to 8.
