Liberal nomination meeting set for August, in Port Perry Anyone wishing to vote at the Nomination Meeting must become a member of the Federal Liberal Association of Durham 30 days prior to the August 11th meeting (July 12), those members who have not renewed and were members of the former ridings of either Nor- thumberland/Durham, Ontario or Oshawa may renew their membership up until 7:30 P.M. on the day of the meeting. The executive of the new Riding are confident that an interesting election will be held in view of the resignation of both incumbent Conservative members Scott Fennell in the old Ontario Riding and Allan Lawrence in the old Northumberland Riding. The most contentious issue will be Free Trade and its impact on local residents. There are already two people who have indicated a desire to seek the nomination. They are Ivan Grose of Courtice and Douglas Moffatt of Clarke Township. Both have a long association with the area and are very familiar with the local issues. : Any other persons interested in seeking the nomination must sub- mit their desire to the President of the riding 10 days prior to the nomination meeting together with signatures of support of at least 15 members in good standing of the Association. Memberships can be purchased or renewed through any member of the Executive.
