We would like to commend the Scugog Shores Museum Board, for a successful Pioneer Days with plenty of fun and excitement for everyone! 50th 'Wedding Anniversary : Celebrated Howard & Dorothy Lee of Nestleton, had one terrific celebration on their Golden Wed- ding Day, held at their home on Sunday, June 26th, from 2-5 p.m. with close to 200 guests in atten- dance. This great occasion was planned by the immediate fami- - ly in honour of their parents 50th Anniversary celebration. Many beautiful cards and love- ly gifts were received from fami- ly and friends...a Microwave was presenit to them from the fami- y...rocking chairs from the Court Snowbirds...a gorgeous pot of Mums from the Ladies Legion Auxiliary and a unique gift was presented by the Nestleton Presbyterian Church congrega- tion of 50 gold dollars. Many other attractive gifts were received as well! Congratulatory certificates were received from many Government Officials! The wedding cakes were made by Dorothy's sister, Mamie Magill...and Janice Dilworth of Enniskillen, made and decorated a wedding cake complete with Bells and Happy Anniversary in- scription on the cake. The temp- ting "buffet" with a variety of lovely food...topped off with wed- ding cake...tea and coffee was prepared by the family. Guests were present from Lind- say, Ajax, Scarborough, Toronto, Omemee, Oshawa, Peterborough, Bowmanville, Port Perry, and surrounding area. A wonderful day for Howard & Dorothy Lee...a day to be long remembered! We extend con- gratulations and warmest wishes for many more happy occasions to the .celebrants from the Nestleton area! Outdoor Service Held The setting for the outdoor ser- vice of the charge, Sunday, Juy 3, for Nestleton-Blackstock, was the lovely, attractive grounds at the home of Harold & Aileen McLaughlin, Blackstock, with a fine attendance. The service was conducted by Ministers Rev. Dale Davis & Rev. Richard Choe...each presenting a special, personal message! Many familiar hymns were sung and en- joyed by the congregation. A quintet composed of Aileen McLaughlin, 'Jean Ferguson, Shirley Gibson, Glenn Larmer & Ross Ashton, with Linda Kyte at the organ was indeed har- monious...singing "In The Garden" and '"'The Beautiful Garden of Prayer'. Rev. D. Davis closed the ser- vice reading "The Charter of Human Rights" and called us as Canadians to set aside dif- ferences...in our unique Canadian garden. Family News Norm & Bernice Mairs attend- ed the Cooper re'union (Norm's mother's family) recently held at Parry Sound, in the Provincial Park. About 50 relatives from many places in Ontario were on hand to enjoy the festive meal and a great visit! : Recent dinner guests with Sam & Mabel Cawker at the Scugog Point farm, were Chas. & Nell Cawker, of Scarborough, and Robt. & Madeline Cawker of Scugog Island. 12 year old Scott Davis, Hyde House, Scugog Point Rd., is spen- ding the summer in Edinburgh, Scotland, the guest of his grand- mother, Mrs. Christina Hender- son. We wish Scott a very en- joyable holiday! Caesarea golf tourney happens on July 23 Heather Munro of Sonya, spent a few days visiting with Mrs. Neta Fish of Blackstock this past week. Doug Fish & friend Marion Short were dinner guests with Neta and took Heather home after her en- joyable visit! Keith & Rhonda Bannister, Nicole & Krista, of Peterborough, were recent guests with Neta Fish and son Calvin & Yvonne Holland and family.. Ralph Cawker and friend Diane Riccio & son Jake of Scarborough, were recent guests with the Sam Cawkers at the farm. July 1st weekend guests with the Sam Cawkers were: Dr. Cheryl Cawker of Peterborough and her brother Bryan Cawker of Kitchener who is spending some time at the farm with his grandparents. Sure was busy at the nursing home during annual Nursing Home Week by Wendy Clark It sure has been a busy week with it being Nursing Home Week. On Monday June 20 we had a Hugga Bunch Day. There cer- tainly was a lot of hugging going on. Prizes were awarded for the most hugs - J. Tuck, most en- thusiastic hugger - B. Moroz, most persistant huggers - D. Spencley & D. Archer and the most bed patient hugs - R. Som- merville. Throughout the afternoon we had a Glamour Hour featuring facials and make-up applications. In the evening the men were honoured at a Father's Day Bash. The Silver Slippers Band was the featured entertainment. A great party was enjoyed by all. Open House was the following day and we started off with a travelling Art Show featuring paintings from Marta Gills' class. Many very talented children displayed their works of art. During the afternoon we hosted a Blood Pressure Clinic and Strawberry Social. In the evening the Christain Reform Church provided a service. Wednesday the 22nd, was fun- draising day with all proceeds go- ing to the Alzheimers Society. Un- fortunately things were slightly disrupted when the electrical power went out but nonetheless we survived. Several treckers headed out for our walk/wheel-a- thon. I'm sure several people saw our trail of many coloured balloons. J. Tuck raised the most money. Special thank-you to Erin, John, Andy, Elizabeth, Lisa and Chris from the Immaculate Con- ception School for their assistance in pushing wheel-chairs. Thursday was an extremely im- portant day with it being Volunteer Appreciation Day. Several complimentary speeches were made at our wine & cheese party. To end Nursing Home Week we celebrated with a Western Day. Many residents got out the straw hats and dressed up for the occa- sion. Best-dressed cowboy: D. Spencley, Best-dressed cowgirl: D. Archer, Staff: N. Kyte & S. Durham. Morning exercises were done to good ole' western music. To all you farmers -- If you ever need some good cow callers be sure to see V. Crosier & L. Blaikie. Winner of our western word game was D. Archer. Later on in the afternoon the Sr. Citizen Club of Port Perry paid us a visit and demonstrated a few square dances. Also a sing-song was led by Roy Walker Smith. What a great way to end a very suc- cessful week. The week of the 27th to 30th we got back into our regular routine. Activities that were offered for the residents enjoyment were bowling, coffee hour, church ser- vice - Scugog Is. United Church, Comfort clothing sale, euchre, crafts and Supper Club. On Tuesday, June 28th was our monthly birthday party with our host being the Honeydale Womens Institute. Everyone join- ed in for a game of Bingo before enjoying the delicious birthday cake. Birthday wishes are extended to staff members Sandy Durham Island Mrs. Dorothy Jeffry is in hospital in Toronto and has had surgery last week. We all wish her a speedy recovery. . The "Fortunates," a local ladies barbershop quartet, have recently returned from Van- couver, where they sang at the wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Fralick's granddaughter and also 3 the reception at the Richmond otel. We were pleased to welcome Rev. Atchinson to the Island Church on Sunday. His wit and humour added much to a very in- spiring service. Rev. Atchinson will be with us for the next two Sundays.
