Jill Van- Camp has been in the Councillor In Training course at Quin-Mo- Lac for the past two weeks which she enjoyed greatly. Jennifer Fletcher has also just returned from camp. She attend- ed the Ontario Camp Leadership Centre at Bark Lake near Gooderham. In her two week stay, Jennifer met teens from across Ontario and had a gret time. Most had remembered their pantry item donation for the food bank. All were reminded of future events and requirements for such occasions. We were pleased to receive an invitation to meet at the trailer home during Aug. for a pot luck luncheon and social time. Plans were made for serv- ing a supper in the Museum Church Tea Room in Sept. to a group from the Historical Socie- ty in Oshawa and of course a reminder of our own Turkey Sup- per, Sept. 28. Of course, before that comes the annual chicken barbecue by the church on the church grounds Aug. 6 - 4:30-7:30 P.M. Island Folks will wish to bring their summer visitors to this. The "Head" U.C.W. regrets the loss of one of it's "Life" members, Mabel (Graham) Strong who suf- fered many months of ailing health in hospital before being released beyond suffering. They have found other relatives to visit but intend to spend more time in the Tower home. I wonder if this is their first impression of Canadian weather.
