Breaking new ground Although the weather wasn't on their side, the rain did hold off long enough for the congregation of the Emmanuel Pentacostal Church to have a brief ser- vice and turn the sod for thelr new church on Durham Road 8, across for the Scugog Arena. Above, some of the congregation stand with umbrellas, to keep the fine drizzle from dampening this special occassion. Photo at left: It was a very happy and special day last Sunday for members of the Emmanual Pentacostal Church when they turned the sod for their new build- ing. Above, taking part in the ceremony are, from left, Mayor Jerry Taylor, bulld- ing chairman, Tom Lockett, Rev. David and Mrs. Jan Beesley, and Rev. Ralph Hilsden, former Pastor of the Pentacostal Church in Port Perry. Many other members of the congregation were given a chance to turn some earth during the historicalground breaking event.
