It's been a great summer but the C.N.E. is here and power skating has started so we can look forward to another fall season just around the corner. Prize winners are as follows: Lone hands prize to Dorothy Whittington. Men's first to Fred Ashton and second to Walter Holliday. Women's first prize to Doris Evans and second to Anne Budd. 50/50 draw won by Mary Housego. Door prize to Ar- thur Budd. The next euchre will be on Thursday, September 29th. At time of writing, Walter Leiter is a patient in Whitby General Hospital. Our very best wishes for a speedy recovery. Theo and Joan Knight attended a family reunion last Sunday afternoon at the home of Don and Cathy Knight in Port Perry. Last Sunday at Burns we were privileged to have as our guest minister, The Rev. John Robert- son from Toronto. He delivered a very fine sermon, taking as his text Genesis 26, verse 25. During the service Debbie Batten sang two lovely solos. Next Sunday, the Rev. Thomas Gemmell will be in charge of wor- ship at Burns. Also next Sunday, all church school classes will resume again. On Sunday, September 11th, we will all join together on the grounds at the Community Centre at 10:00 a.m. sharp for a fun time of games, singing and lunch. Mr. Armour McMillan attended the Quaker Hill Steam show on Saturday and Sunday, where he had a very interesting display of his wood carvings of farm animals. We extend sympathy to Mrs. Harry Phoenix on the passing of her sister, Mrs. Annie Guy. We welcome Prof. McCready home after a lengthy stay in St. Michaels hospital following an accident.
