The new executive of the P.P.F.S.C. have been busy plan- ning and preparing for an exciting 1988-89 season. Our executive this season are president Lorraine Nesbitt, vice presidents Linda Holtby and Diane Buchanan: secretary - Sandra Sorley; treasurer - Norma Cornish; direc- tors - Janice Hammond, Trudy Empringham, Pat Obstfeld, Gail Chellew, Joan White, Betty Turn- bull, Brenda Morden, Allyne Jones, Carolyn Bridgewater and Barb La Chappelle. We thank all these people for volunteering of their time in mak- ing the P.P.F.S.C. a successful club. Each parent will have an op- portunity in assisting the club throughout the year by volunteer- ing of only a few hours of their time in a variety of ways. A special request is made for parent volunteers in playing of our taped music during each ses- SQUIRT DIVISION: There were some fine games played this week at the Scugog Soccer fields as the season winds down. Ryan Moynes of Van Camp scored twice to help his team win their game against Classic Photos 2-0 Port Perry Star put forth a strong effort to finally overcome the Royal Canadian Legion by a score of 2-1. The lune scorer for the Legion was Robbie Bredin while Tyler Wootton & Adam Hobbs led their team to victory. A well played game by everyone. On Wednesday, Sept. 7th a game that was previously cancell- ed due to rain will be replayed between Van Camp Construction & Port Perry Star. This will be an important game for both sides to decide the Division Champion so Good Luck to all the players. An opportunity to sign up for this will be available during registration, Tues., Sept. 13th & Wed, Sept. 14th from 7-9 p.m. at the arena. Starting Sept. 20th, an earlybird skating session will be held for 3 weeks prior to our regular season. The club is pleased to announce the hiring of 3 more highly qualified coaches to our existing coaching staff. We welcome all our coaches back from last year except Gail who will be busier than ever off the ice! As well as our professional coaches we have many en- thusiastic volunteer amateur coaches who will be assisting in the Canskate programme. This gives the Canskate skater a ses- sion with a professional coach plus another session with an Soccer report continued his hot scoring pace with both goals as Taylor Ford downed Prestige Hair by a score of 2-0. This was a close game and both sides put forth an excellent effort. Rent & Save, with a goal early in their game against Gord Lewis Motors put up a brave fight until the finish. Although Gord Lewis went on to finally win the game 9-2, this was surely one of Rent & Save's best efforts to date. Scor- ing for Rent & Save were Kent Johnston & Chris Arnold. Three goals from Aaron Lafontaine, two each from Jeff Clarke & Kevin Hobbs and singles from Kristan Wootton & Troy Martin assured the Gord Lewis Team a finish in first place & therefore winners of the Division. Congratulations to the following members of this team for a very fine season: Jeff Clarke, Rodney Greenough, Scott Curtis, Seamus McCann, Troy Martin, Kristan Wootton, James Needham, Jeff Gunn, Kevin Hobbs, Aaron Lafontaine, Robbie Murphy, Krista Lafort & Matthew Boyce. A special SHIRLEY ROAD PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, September 7, 1968 -- 25 Figure Skating Club ready for busy season figure skating event sponsored by the C.F.S.A. at the Oshawa Civic Centre, Sept. 29th. This is a two hour professional ice show to pro- mote recreational skating, featur- ing Brian Orser, Tracey Wilson, and Rob McCall with special guests Barbara Underhill and Paul Martini. If you have missed getting tickets through the P.P.F.S.C., they are still available at the Oshawa Civic Centre. Sounds like a great show, hope to see you there.
