Scugog Island Area News by Mrs. Earl Reader Please note the settings for the "Head" U.C.W. Turkey Supper, Sept. 28 as advertised in this col- umn last week was wrong. So this week, note the correct times will be 5:30 & 6:30 p.m. which may be more convenient for many. So don't forget to still call Bonnie Gerrow for your reserved tickets. The "Head" U.C.W. was held last Wed. evening at the home of Mrs. Clara Dowson with 12 or 13 members present. There was much planning with a supper on the 20th and one on the 28th. And very soon after that it will be "Harvest Home' Service at the "Head Memorial" Museum Church. I'm pleased to report that Mrs. Camie Samells and Mrs. Marion Hughes have both been home from hospital for some time and PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, September 13, 1968 -- 15 are both much better. Of course Mrs. Dorothy Jeffrey at the Foot has been home from the Toronto Hospital for some time, where she was treated for kidney and vascular trouble. Tho' she is much better it is not one hundred per cent and with her husband Perc. they appreciate the family assistance. Sept. 12, 1988 Last Sundays' Annual Bible School Rally Day at Port Perry Baptist Church brought many who had been away for the sum- mer back. A total of 198 were in | attendance. Young and old en- | joyed the special music, puppets and special stories brought by Mrs. Beulah Buchwald from Oshawa. Here is some exciting news for | members of our communities ser- vice and church organizations. The Port Perry downtown merchants association are inviting us to take part in an on-street bake sale on Saturday, October 8th. The promotion, which will be advertised extensively in newspa- per and radio, is called the Thanks- giving "Big Apple Festival" and it | is a chance for our community groups to participate and earn unds for future projects. Spaces (at no charge) on Queen Street for anyone wishing to par- ticipate will be assigned by con- tacting Brenda Armstrong at 985- 9744. And, there will be cash priz- es awarded to participants for "best display" and for "best apple pie". This is a perfect idea for any of our clubs who would like to take part.
