Jennie and Archie Watson entertained overnight guest last week when her cousins Mr. and Mrs. P. Ganci from England visited them. Faye and Keith Ashton enter- tained the Howard Ashton fami- ly last Wed. evening with a birth- day dinner in honour of his mother's, Ruth Ashton, seventy- fifth birthday. Ruth's sister Lucille Wagner was also present. Ken and Beth Catherwood visited Mrs. Ashton on Sun. There was a very special ser- vice at Epsom Church on Sun. when beautiful, happy Heather Barbara Hawks was christened. She is the wee daughter of Kate and Thomas Hawks of Utica. The family were so pleased to have Lucinda Tes, Kate's sister from England act as Godmother. Pine Grove Church will be holding their Harvest Home Ser- vice Oct. 2 at 3 p.m. Rev. Yourkevitch will be the guest speaker. Special music by Jean Parrott and Alma Wilson. The Youth Group are meeting Sun., Sept. 25 after church which is at Utica and will wait at Arnold Kerry's home till Rev. Waterman joins them as she is taking the an- niversary service at Udora and Rev. King will be leading our ser- vice at 11:15. Then all will go out for lunch and on to tour Canadian Automotive Museum. Bill and Melba McKay had a delightful trip to Halifax, N.S. to visit their son Dr. Wm. There was a beautiful wedding at Epsom Church last Thurs. evening when Dawn Marie Fahselt became the bride of Steven Nicholson. Her sister, 'Wendy Andrews, was Maid of Honour. Our best wishes to the happy couple. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Taylor of Nova Scotia visited with the Earl Taylors. They travelled about looking for family history and old home. As Elizabeth remarked "Climbing the family tree'. On Wed., our U.C.W. enjoyed meeting with our friends of the Pine Grove Auxiliary. Thanks for sharing with us. On Tues. evening the U.C.W. were pleased to enjoy our meeting at the new home of Eileen and Lorne Slute. That first pumpkin pie of the season was so good. Norine Card has been busy the last few days cheering for grand- son Jeffrey Card of Newmarket whose baseball team won the Pee- Wee league championship. Congratulations. Congratulations also to Robert Ashton who won first prize for his calf at Beaverton Fair. Sept. 26 the York U.C.W. Walter and Elva Kerry attend- ed a birthday party for her sister Wilda Meyers at the home of Wilda's son, Ron, in Oshawa on Wed. On Fri., Shirley Rospolita of Langley, B.C. and her daughter Jennifer of Toronto were guests at the Kerry home. Choir practice Thurs. at 7:30 p.m. followed by a church board meeting at 8:30 p.m. Recent visitors with Norm and Betty Tapscott were Margaret Gerrard and Thelma Pye of Toronto and Margaret Smith of Uxbridge. It was the most beautiful evening of the year and all who attended the Wiener Roast at Epsom Sun. evening had a most enjoyable time.
