Marion and Morven had moved from Oshawa in 1967 and settled very comfortably into the little church on the hill 21 years ago, from which Marion always gloried in the beauty of the winter SNOWS. They joined in with the Com- munity activities and Marion was a lively member of the "Head" U.C.W. She regretted having to Q: Do you belong to or support any particular political party or idealogy? A: | do not subscribe to party politics at the Municipal level believing that to serve ALL your constituents is first and foremost. | am considered highly conservative. Q: Do you want to halt all building in the area? A: Definitely not! What | don't what is a repeat of, "The Village of Pickering Scenario", where the apathy of the residents allowed the developers to destroy the flavour and uniqueness of the village through the building of "strip malls" and *'cookie-cutter" housing developments. Q: Are you opposed to the support of sports and recreation in the Township? A: Absolutely not! Indeed, my two children were able to enjoy both the old arena, the new arena, the old and new tennis courts, etc. etc. Not only do | support the many endeavors but would like to see a good, competitive box lacrosse team here as well. What | do not want is to provide expensive new or expanded facilities for our young people and then tax their very future in order to pay for them! There is no free lunch! Through careful and thorough planning, we can provide the needed facilities without adversely affecting our economic position, and | pledge to work towards that end. Q: Are you aware that a Councillor is obligated to devote a minimum of 25 hours weekly to properly perform his duties, and if elected, are you able and prepared to do so? A: | have carefuly weighed the time and effort demanded and feel confident that | can and will fully meet my obligations. Q: Dealing with other levels of Government, weighing the merit of requests and applications and making responsible decisions requires a considerable understanding of governing laws, protocol and precedent. Do you feel qualified to work within these requirements? A: Because of my extensive business background and my daily contact with small business and affective legislation process, | feel well-qualified and very comfortable in those areas. | sincerely hope that | have addressed your concerns and want to represent your interests at council.
