France, assisting the hostess, and the appreciation was expressed by Gwen Malcolm! Fun Fair Enjoyed An enjoyable 'Fun Fair" in Solina, on Tuesday, October 18, was held by Durham West In- stitutes. The attendance was good with 10 members from Nestleton on hand for the fun. District Presi- dent Mrs. Ashton, welcomed all to this annual day of fellowship .. and the W.I. Ode was sung. Three branches convened the amusing program .. Nestleton .. with Gwen Malcolm & Norma Frew taking part, also .. Maple Grove and Hampton. The Country Store was well stocked with attractive items for sale, as well as a lovely array of home baking. Lunch was serv- ed and a social time was a highlight of the afternoon! Nestleton Presbyterian Church The service at Nestleton Presbyterian Church was held at 10 a.m. with Lay preacher, David Faulkner in charge, with Joyce Taylor, the capable organist. The Responsive Psalm was No. 51 and Scripture reading Romans 12. On Saturday morning Oct. 29th at 10 a.m. till noon there will be a Hallowe'en party at the Green- bank Hall for children 10 years old and younger. Mrs. Margaret (Green) Oake from Lachione, Quebec, spent the weekend with Mrs. Mildred Thomson. On Nov. 5th the Greenbank Hillbillies baseball team are hav- ing their end of season dance at Greenbank Hall from & p.m. to 1 a.m. For tickets call 985-8239. Robert Couperthwaite and children visited the Expo of Wheels at the Exhibition Place over the weekend. Mr. Norman McCready from Port Prag, California has return- ed home after visiting his brother Professor McCready who is recuperating at home. Also a quick recovery to Morley Raines after an operation in Oshawa Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Kerry celebrated their fortieth Wedding Anniversary in Greenbank Hall. Congratulations to Terry Till and Julie Midgley who were mar- ried on Saturday in the Green- bank United Church. Afternoon U.C.W. Meeting at the church Nov. 2nd at 1 p.m. commencing with dessert. Nestleton United Church A fair attendance for Sunday, Oct. 23rd, 11:15 a.m. with Arnold & Jean Williams greeting at the door. Rev. Dale Davis spoke on "Shalom" based on Scriptures from Jeremiah 31 & Mark 10. Arlene, Heather and Alison Malcolm assisted by reading Scripture. After the usual storytime the children retired downstairs to classes. The choir rendered two anthems, "Its a long road to freedom' & "My Tribute" to an appreciative congregation. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Manns of Raglan and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Yuill of Oshawa. The bride chose a tradi- tional wedding gown of -- white faille. It featured a : high neck and leg-o- mutton sleeves. The fitted bodice was accented by Alcenon and chantilly lace. The full skirt fell into a cathedral length train edged by a ruffle of mat- ching laces. To complete her ensemble, the bride wore a tradi- tional crown of chantilly lace and seed pearls. The veil fell into a fingertip length and featured scattered pearls. Attending the bride as her matron of honour was her cousin Sharon Baxter. Shelley Mahaffy, cousin of the bride; Wendy Dupuis, friend of the bride and Laurie Walker, sister of the groom; were bridesmaids. The best man was Steven Baxter, friend of the groom. The ushers were Alan Manns, brother of the bride; Steven Yuill, brother of the groom; Kevin Walker, brother-in-law of the groom. The reception was held at the Immaculate Conception Church Hall, Port Perry. The happy couple now resides in Oshawa.
