She brought the meeting to order with a warm welcome to all, and a work of appreciation to Nor- ma for the use of her home. After repeating the Lord's Prayer in unison..Norma presented the interesting devo- tional entitled, "A Song Of Thanksgiving". Scripture reading was Hebrews 13 and Psalm 67. During the business portion the secretary reported that 1989 Church Calendars were on hand and would sell for $2.00 each. A thank you card and a donation was received from Edna Wilson. Get well card was signed for Harry Sanderson who is in hospital, and a sympathy card sent to Mrs. Ross Brown re- the loss of her husband. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved and treasurer's state- ment given. The programme..led by Mabel Dayes, for the Thanksgiving Season was meaningful with topic- "What to be thankful for" followed by a reading by Norma Wolfe..written by Gregory Clarke. The meeting closed with Benediction. A lovely lunch was served by Mabel Dayes and Norma Wolfe - the hostess! Nestleton United Church Anniversary On Sunday, Oct. 30 at 11:00 A.M. with Richard & Janice MacKenzie greeting at the door, there was a fine attendance for the Fall Anniversary Service. Nestleton United celebrated 153 years for the Congregation and 88 years in the present sanctuary. Rev. Dale Davis conducted the service and introduced the An- niversary speaker Rev. Sylvia Dunstan, Chaplain at Whitby Jail. Her splendid message on "The Saints and the Lamb" was thought provoking! It was based on Revelations 7 and Matthew 5. The Ladies choir sang two an- thems "Let There Be Peace" & "'1 Asked the Lord". Guest soloist Herb Vine favoured with 'Beyond The Sunset" in his usual fine voice. The children's theme show- ed that outside appearances can be deceiving! Rev. Davis express- ed appreciation to organist Gwen Malcolm, choir members, Rev. Dunstan and Herb Vine for their part in the splendid service. Ser- vice is withdrawn for next Sun- day, so that Nestleton Church ~ members can attend Blackstock Church to hear Ron Neun speak on Zambia at 10:00 A.M. Villa Birthday Party On Wed., Oct. 26, the afternoon Unit of Nestleton UCW visited the Villa, Port Perry, where they were in charge of the monthly Birthday party. Bernice and Norm Mairs sang several amus- ing songs with Norm accompany- ing on his Omnichord. Gwen & Lawrence Malcolm entertained with violin and piano music and two humorous skits. After presentation of handmade gifts to the birthday celebrants..all had a share in the celebration. .the lovely cake made and decorated by Irene McKee, topped off with a "spot" of tea. The Villa residents thanked the UCW for a pleasant afternoon. Caesarea Euchre Norm Rohrer was high for first place in the Wed. evening Euchre with 86. In second place was Kathy Watts with 77. Consolation was won by Paul Kravets with 42. Norm Rohrer won the most lone hands for the month of October. Lunch was provided by Mabel Ubsdell and a social hour enjoyed. Re - the Bazaar on November 19 - much planning is being done by the ladies for an enjoyable and successful Bazaar - working long hours on crafts, etc. If you have donations to turn in, please con- tact any member of the Auxiliary! Nestleton Presbyterian Church The regular Church service was in charge of David Faulkner on Sunday, Oct. 30 at 11 A.M. Sunday School also convened at this hour with Dorothy Lee the Superinten- dent in charge. Joyce Taylor was the able organist. The responsive Psalm was No. 61 and the Scripture from Luke 12: 22-34. "Seek the Kingdom First" was the theme of the ser- mon. In our everyday lives our priorities are primary & secon- dary, and in whatever situation, in which we have to make our choice, it must be the following of Christ. Birthday Celebrations Calvin Holland celebrated his birthday on Saturday evening at his home...when wife Yvonne held a delightful party in honour of the occasion. Mom Neta Fish was a guest...and the children Chad, Craig & Alannah were very ex- cited about a party for Daddy! All the best to Calvin for many more happy birthdays! The Norm Mairs home was an exciting place on Sunday, when Bernice hosted a party for Norm...celebrating on Friday, Oct. 28 and daughter Diane Slute celebrating on Sunday, Oct. 30. A lovely dinner was cooked by chef Bernice...complete with cake and all the trimmings...which made for a great day! All the family were home...the Rob Mairs & family, Nestleton, Allan Mairs, Uxbridge, and Diane Slute, Jeremy Jay & Julie of Prince Albert. Our best to the celebrants!
