On Thursday night the team travelled to Bowmanville to face off against a very aggressive Toro team. The scoring started midway through the 1st period as Sandy Mark found the empty corner assisted by fellow linesman Tim Fitz- patrick and Jeremey Geer. Port's final goal of the game came off the stick of Kirk Swain as he blasted one between the pipes assisted by Craig Laird. Nice passing plays boys! Ian Shrigley and Scot Pretchitko shared goal tending duties tonight and both made many sensational stops in- cluding several breakaway at- tempts! Great work boys! The Malmont Farms Atom 1 team opened the league season on Friday, Oet. 28 when they faced off against a very aggressive Stouffville team. With Jay King & Darryl Bourgeois out of the line- up the rest of the team had to work extra hard and work they did! This was a very exciting game right from the opening whistle as Port Perry and Stouff- ville constantly challenged each others goaltenders. Ian and Scot both played outstanding between the pipes! The forwards and defensive lines all played tight hockey passing the puck around and breaking up many Stouffville rushes! Stouffville played a very rough game picking up 9 penalties but we are very proud to report that Port Perry, instead of resor- ting to choppy 'hockey' they directed all their energy into out- skating and outplaying their op- position making Stouffville look like they were standing still! Way to work together boys! Stouffville opened up the scoring in the 1st period but midway through the 2nd period Tim Fitzpatrick took a beautiful flip shot tieing up the game 1-1 assisted by Sandy Mark. Early in the 3rd period Kenton LeFort gave Port the lead 2-1 as he let go a hard shot beating the Stouffville netminder. Stouffville netted 2 more before the end of the game outscoring Port 3-2 but definitely not out playing them. For more exciting action with the Malmont Farms Atom team come out Friday, Nov. 4 to their next home game. Good Luck Boys! DON FORDER INSURANCE BROKERS LTD. SELWIN FINANCIAL SERVICES INC.
