A worthwhile day for all On October 19, the Executive of Lindsay Presbyterial met at Peniel United Church. The Presi- dent, Mrs. Joyce Jones opened the meeting with a poem, "The Autumn Lesson" followed by Prayer. Joyce welcomed everyone and thanked the Peniel ladies for their hospitality which included coffee, in china cups and muffins. Eleanor Mahood led an im- pressive worship service, begin- ning with '"The Beatitudes of the Aging."' Scripture taken from Psalm 92:12-15, followed. Eleanor read a meditation entitled Never Too Old to Grow,' and closed the worship with Prayer. Mrs. Dorothy McKague, on behalf of the Peniel U.C.W. welcomed the ladies to their church. The Attendance sheet was cir- culated, as regrets were given on behalf of those who were not pre- sent. The minutes of the June 14 Executive meeting were approv- ed as written. There was no Cor- respondence and Mrs. Florence Harrison, Treasurer, gave her report showing a balance of $3,674,65. She noted that contribu- tions to Bursary and Quin Mo Lac are down this year. A motion passed that a donation of $500.00 be sent to Mission and Service from the Presbyterial Treasury. Mrs. June Webster gave the Fair Booth Report thanking all who had helped, stating that volunteers had come from 18 churches. Mrs. Marion Thurston is the Co-ordinator for the Fair Booth next year. The Presbyterial Officers pre- sent than gave their reports. Mrs. Carol Thompson requested prayer for Miss Vina Neal and Jackie Neun. She read a letter from Hillcrest Lodge in Orillia suggesting that donations to this United Church project would be welcome and a representative from Hillcrest would be willing to come to speak. Mrs. Mary Winterbottom in- troduced some worthwhile books for Devotion and had her usual good supply of books on display. Mrs. Beth Waite, Supply and Service, thanked the ladies for their response to the many needs and that there is now a need for Canadian Tire money at Quin Mo Lac to make some necessary pur- chases. Telecare and Palliative Care need volunteers to train. A suggestion was made that a flyer be circulated to urge local units to increase their contribution to Quin Mo Lac to help purchase their requirements. Mrs. Connie Grundy, Steward- ship, expressed her disappoint- ment in the attendance at the Workshop she conducted recent- ly. She emphasized our respon- sibility to Stewardship of the Obitvary--Mitro Ksenica Mitro Ksenica passed away at Green Acres in Newmarket on Sept. 10, 1988. A former resident of Toronto, he was in his 84th year. Mitro was born in Czechoslovakia in 1904. He came to Canada in 1928 and worked 39 years for American Standard as a moulder. Mitro bought a farm in Epsom in 1948 on the 8th Con- cession. He lived on the farm for 22 years. Because of failing health, Mitro went to live at the Green Acres Home For The Aged, where he was diagnosed as hav- ing Alzheimer's Disease. Mitro Ksenica is survived by his wife Rose (Hotner), a son, Ed- ward (Butch) Ksenica of Toron- to and a daughter Anna Simko of London. Loving grandfather of Jason and Jared Ksenica of Toronto, Bob Simko of Belleville, Thomas Simko of Ottawa and Diane Pirner of Toronto. Rested at the Wagg Funeral Home. A funeral mass was celebrated in the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Port Perry on Sept. 13, 1988. The Presbyterial Annual will be held on March 29, 1989 at Cam- bridge St. Church, Lindsay, with Rev. Brian Gee, guest speaker. With Mrs. Eleanor Mahood at the piano, Grace was sung. Sufficient time was allow- ed to pursue the book display. As we resumed for the after- noon, Joyce Jones reminded us of a few things to consider, such as: Times of Rallies, a Stewardship meeting in November, and the Mid-Week Event in Belleville where Lindsay Presbyterial is responsible for a skit. Connie Grundy and Joyce Junkin delivered a Presentation, "Preparing to be a Presbytery Rep." Joyce read from Romans 12 "Life in God's Service,' follow- ed by prayer. A Presbytery representative should be a pas- sionate and caring person. The girls explained in detail the duties of each division and recommend- ed attendance at Presbytery to all present. A discussion followed regarding a different method of selecting the ten U.C.W. represen- tatives to Presbytery but the pre- sent system will continue until next May. The February Executive Meeting will be held at Queen St., Lindsay with the date to be con- firmed at a later date. Isabel Wessell, in a few well chosen words gave the courtesies.
