Midget B's take a tie 1-1 On Monday November 21, the Stouffville Clippers ran into some strong opposition from the Cana- dian Tire Midgets. : Port Perry kept up an even pace throughout the game. Chris Carr, Jody Breen, Kevin Buscher and Chris Ball played three ex- cellent periods of defense, clear- ing the puck well in front of the net. Noel Lovering made several key saves to keep Stouffville limited to one goal and Port Perry kept pushing through the game which ended in a 1-1 tie. Port Perry's goal came at the 14:45 mark of the first period. Michael Butt took control of the JR. S$ 2 'CC' HOCKEY SATURDAY, DECEMBER 3rd puck from the opening face-off and passed it over from his wing to his centerman, Ethan Lavereau; who in turn made a perfect pass to Paul Kett who was able to score on a nicely placed shot from the bottom of the circle. The first period ended with Port leading 1-0. At the halfway point of the se- cond period Stouffville was able to score on a scramble around Port Perry's net. This was to be the last goal scored in the game. Port Perry's forward lines continued to push hard but were unable to capitalize on any of their shots although they had some good chances to score. Stouffville was also unable to score on any of their chances as their shots were nicely deflected by Noel Lovering. Joining the Canadian Tire Midgets at this time are Ethan Lavereau, Chris Ball and Ron Halligan. The Clippers hit the ice determin- ed to win and were able to make the ice their own. Halfway through the first period Wayne Fraser rushed in on the Stouffville netminder pulling him out of posi- tion before firing away Port Perry's first marker. Stouffville continued to dominate the game as the time ticked away. With one minute left on the clock in the third period Michael Butt fired a fast shot from the slot on a pass from Aaron Cochrane to net the last goal of the game. The game ended with this goal and both teams left the ice with Stouffville being victorious and one minute remaining on the clock. J eet ORT PERRY remain close The first game of the day saw Larocque Electric retain first place by squeezing past Compton Cable T.V. 3-1. The lone scorer for Larocque was Bill Bridge with the hat trick. Assisting were Don MacDonald and Bob Lee each with two. The lone marker for Compton was Henry Forderer from John Woodward. Game two saw Sportsland win their second game of the year by defeating Norton's Home Im- provements 7-5. Counting for Sportsland were John Foster 3 goals, 1 assist, Clarence Stephenson 2 goals, 2 assists, Glen Hudson and John Delorme 1 goal each. Adding assists were Reg Templeman 2, Ken Smart 2, Rob Evans and Roger Moase one each. Fighting for Norton's were Randy Prosser 2 goals, 1 assist, Ron Jeffrey 1 goal, 2 assists, Dave Roth 1 goal, 2 assists and Fred Moffat 1 goal. Assists to Steve Calder, Bill VanCamp, and Ron Davis 1 a piece. The third game was a well fought battle both offensively and defensively which ended in a 1-1 tie between Crandell's Riverboat and J & D Caprentry. Scoring for Crandell's was Glen McCoy from Richie LeFort and Wayne Taylor. The lone market for J & D was Mike "Tater" Adam from Brian Callery. Game four was a hard, fast pac- ed game which also resulted in a tie between Dennis Anderson's Chev. Olds. and Blanchard's Supply Co. with the final score be- ing 4-4 with just 2 seconds left. Counting for Anderson's were Dennis 2 goals, Gary Lance 1 goal, 1 assist, Bob Beveridge 1 goal, 1 assist. Helping out were Dick Martin and Don Orr. Scorers for Blanchard's were Al Bonner 2 goals, Dan Horner 1 goal, 1 assist, and Mark Jobb 1 goal. Other assists to Bruce Gracie, Jim Duncan, Marvin Stevenson, Wayne Norton, and Dan Carty, all with one. Pee Wees win On Wednesday, November 23 the Stone Realty Pee Wees hosted Lindsay and won this game han- dily 8-1. Lindsay's only goal was the result of a penalty shot. Port con- trolled this game from the outset, outshooting the opposition 33-4. Steve Desautels was the big shooter connecting 3 times. Chad Garvock scored twice while Aron Royle (on a nice end to end rush), Neil Mueller and Scott Wylie all scored once. Brent Harper, Scott Wylie, Scott Heasman and Chad Kearns all added 2 assists with Todd Smart, Jeff Card and Jeremy Norton pitching in with one. On Sunday, the Stone gang hosted a much tougher squad from Whitby and this physical contest ended in a 3-3 tie. Whitby opened the scoring but Scott Wylie deflected a shot from Mike Sluggett to tie the game. Whitby regained the lead before Port scored twice to take the lead. Chad Garvock scored the first of two goals on another deflection with Scott Heasman and Brent Harper picking up the assist. Mike Sluggett then gave Port the lead with a shot from the point after being set up by Scott Wylie. Whitby scored once in the third period to finish off the scoring. The boys have a busy week with a return game in Whitby on Wednesday night. They then travel to Stouffville on Friday night before going to Omemee on Saturday for a tournament. Thank You, Scugog!
