While demand for Technology graduates is ever increasing, the number of students entering Technology courses is not keeping pace although these grads ob- viously enjoy excellent career choices, opportunities and wages. This year, overall, 97.4 percent of Durham College' S post- secondary graudates have found employment. The statistics repre- sent the employment status of post-secondary graduates six months after graduation. The percentage of students employed is based on the number seeking full-time employment. Durham graduated 878 students from post-secondary programs in 1988. Of that number, 744 were seeking full-time employment, 27 were not, 88 chose to continue their education, and 19 could not be reached. Of the 744 seeking full-time employment, 88.7 per- cent are employed in a field related to their training. Post-secondary programs that had a 100 percent placement rate in related employment were Sports Administration (3 year program), Public Relations, Graphic Design (3 year pro- gram), Business Administration, ' Office Systems Administration, Office Administration (Secretarial-Executive option), Dental Hygiene, Chemical Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Elec- tronics Engineering Technology (Computer option), Electronic Engineering Technology (In- dustrial option), Mechanical Engineering Technology (CAD/CAM option). The College offers 46 post- secondary programs. For more information on Durham College programs call the Admissions Of- fice 576-0210, Ext. 244. CKLY is now top-rated In the recently released Bureau of Broadcast Measurement (BBM) figures, CKLY Radio is now one of the top-ranked radio stations in Canada. Expressed in terms of share of audience in each station's central area, CKLY ranks in the top 10 percent of over 620 radio stations in the country. In the region covering CKLY's central Victoria County market, plus Minden, Beaverton, & Port Perry, CKLY enjoyed its largest gains in hours tuned for its daytime and early evening pro- gramming. In this central market, CKLY reaches more peo- ple than all radio stations combin- ed, based on the results from the two cross Canada BBM studies done this year. Station owner, Andy McNabb attributed the consistent market prominence to the staff of pro- grammers and news people on hand. Program Director Nancy Stapleton is responsible for the overall sound of the station in- volving announcers, music and formatics, with the actual Music direction done by Assistant Pro- gram Director, Ron Harris. News supervisor, Ruth Corley oversees a crew of 5, which has expanded from a crew of 3 from a year ago. For further information, con- tact Andy McNabb at (705) 324-9103.
