Both teams came out flying and it was Lewis that took the early lead with Chris Vandermeer scor- ing assisted by Jeremy Stevens. Matt Brown then tied the game with Stewart Bruce assisting.' Scugog took the lead when Matt Brown took the first shot and Troy Anderson was there to put in the rebound. Jason Vader got Lewis even after taking the pass from Jeremy Stevens and finding the net behind Ian. Matt Brown regained the lead for Scugog assisted by Troy Anderson only to have Lewis tie the match at 3-3 when Jeremy Stevens set up Justin Wootton who made no mistake finding the open net. Scugog took the lead for good halfway through the final period when Stewart Bruce scored his first of three. His first was assisted by Matt Brown, Stewart's second was assisted by Jason Hopkins and Matt Baker, then with 1 second remaining Troy Anderson and Jon Jamieson set up Stewart for his hattrick. A special thanks to Mr. John Wood- ward who kindly gave up the warmth of the heaters to assist in running the clock for us. Tripp 5 - Whitby 0 This game was a lot closer then the score indicates. There was no scoring in the first game period due to the the goaltending of David Kemp and Michael Wilson. Matt Phoenix gave Tripp the lead in the second putting a nice plac- ed shot behind David, with Dwayne Rombough and Steven Cochrane assisting. Johnathan McCourt and John Sax then set up Michael Leeming to put Trippup 2-0. Matt Phoenix assisted by Steven Cochrane gave Tripp some breathing room heading in- to the last period. Michael Wilson held Tripp in the game as Whit- by's Brandon Hammond, Jason Brown and Steven Hiemstra did everything possible to get on the score board. Chad Mitchel scored assisted by Matt Phoenix and Steven Cochrane. Michael Leem- ing closed out the scoring assisted by Jason Robinson. Lions 3 - Scugog 2 This was a hotly contested af- fair as Scugog was looking to ex- tend their lead to 7 points over the Lions. Both teams were moving the puck up and down the ice with great passing plays. Late in the opening period Stewart Bruce gave Scugog the lead on a solo ef- fort. The second period treated us -to more great hockey. Stewart Bruce gave Scugog a 2-0 lead when he picked up the loose puck and firing a shot past Jamie Trick. In the third period the Lion's mounted their comback when Scott Pretichiko was final- ly rewarded for his hard work when he took a pass from Ryan Duff to beat Ian Johnson to cut Scugog's lead to 1. The Lions tied the game when Ryan set Matt Philips up who put a screened shot past Ian. With just 4 minutes to play, Colin Outram stole the puck from a Scugog defender and scored to give the Lions the win.
