Nestleton-Caessarea News by Mabel Cawker A most productive all day Women's Institute Regional meeting was hosted by Provincial Board Director Mrs. Morley (Doris) Dunn of Stouffville for Subdivision No. 8 held in Wesley United Church (Aurora Area) on Monday Jan. 30. Representatives from the five districts within the Subdivision attended - York West, York North, York Centre, York East and Ontario South, with a gratifying number present! A lovely luncheon was served at the noon hour by her W.I. Branch. Delegates attending from Ontario South were Sec'y Hazel Coates, Shirley, Program Co-ordinator Bernice Andrews, Cannington, 1st Vice President Aleta Campbell, Whitby and 2nd Vice President, Louella Lewis of Mount Albert. Sorry yours truly (Public Rela- tions Officer) still had a bit of the flu and wasn't able to be on hand for this important meeting! Caesarea Euchre Results High score for the Wed. evening card game held in the Caesarea Hall was Dorothy Edwards with 69. Second in line was Susan M. with 64. Low - Aileen Owens with a 53. The Churches On a beautiful Sunday, Feb. 5th, 11:15 a.m. Nestleton United saw a fine attendance on hand with Arthur & Barb Weir..the warm greeters at the door. Intern Minister Norman Seli was ill with the flu and couldn't attend. Rev. Dale Davis preached on '"Moun- taintop Experiences' ..the peaks of the valley of life..and excellent message! The children's theme was based on The Ten Command- ments, and each child was given a copy. The anthem rendered by the Choir, was wonderful, with Carol Mairs..the capable pianist. The number was entitled, "Wings of the Dove" and those who par- ticipated were Shirley Jackson, ANNOUNCEMENT % Richard & Bobbie Drew and Lois & Eric Huntington are pleased to announce the engagement of their children Korin and Rick. Wedding to take place May 27th, 1989 at Port Perry United Church. At the Caesarea Community Church on Sunday..service was conducted by Lyn Arney with Charles Burck of Seeley's Bay in the pulpit. He spoke on text from Matthew 6:41. Theme "Watch and Pray, putting God first. witnessing for the Lord, and all things revere". Responsive reading was taken by Frank Arney and Scripture was read by John Doucette. Pianist - Linda Sutherland. The Sunshine Club meet as usual. At the Presbyterian Church in Nestleton, the usual service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Fred Swann con- ducting the service, with Joyce Taylor - the fine organist. Psalm 15 was read responsively, and Scripture was Matthew 4:10. An impressive service to induct the three newly elected Elders.. Mrs. Dorothy McCabe, Mrs. Dorothy Lee and Mrs. Russell Brown, was led by Rev. Fred Swann, assisted by Elders Mr. Stan McNeely and Mr. George Scott. General Executive Meeting Held An executive meeting of the General U.C.W. was held at the home of Jean Williams in Nestleton, on Tuesday Jan. 21, at 1:30 p.m. President Jean..with Sec'y Barb Weir taking the minutes..opened the meeting wth a poem "No Time" and led a discussion r.e.: many events in planning stage for year 1989, such as fund raising, catering ideas, outings, smorgasbord, hoe-down, prices, etc. These recommenda- tions to be brought to the General meeting on April 12 at 7:30 p.m. in Nestleton Church. Afternoon Unit is in charge of programme, lunch etc. At the close of the interesting afternoon the hostess served a delightful lunch..before wending our way homeward. The World Day of Prayer will be hosted by the Catholic Women's League, in the Nestleton Community Centre, March 3, at 2 p.m. The afternoon unit of the Nestleton U.C.W. will meet at the home of Anne Emerson, on Tues- day, Feb. 14 at 1:30 p.m. A good attendance is expected! Best Wishes Very "best wishes' to Larry & Betty Headon who have been celebrating recently..their 12th wedding anniversary. A family dinner was enjoyed at the Red Lobster Inn in Peterborough. Get Well Wishes Best wishes are extended to those in Hospital..Mr. George Bowers and Mr. Howard Lee. Trust for better health soon to these two Nestleton friends..from this area.
