Atom playoffs Tripp 4 Vi Lions 2 was a very entertaining af- fair as the final outcome was not decided until the final seconds of the game. Tripp opened the scoring when Mike Leeming set up Matt Phoenix, who found the twine behind Jamie Trick. Terry Jellicoe tied the game taking a ect pass from Eric Vetter and ting Michael Wilson with a perfect shot. The Lions grabbed the lead with Matt Phillips scoring assisted by Scott Pretchiko and Ryan Duff. With only seconds remaining in the period Matt Phoenix pounced on a rebound and tied the match at 2 with assists going to Steve Cochrane and Stephen Elliott. The final period had both teams going for the win. We were treated to some great plays from both teams. It wasn't until the final 50 seconds that the game was decided. With the Lions pressing, Matt Phoenix picked off a pass, broke down the left wing and put a screened shot past Jamie for the winning goal. Matt then scored his fourth of the day with 13 seconds to play to secure the victory for Tripp. Lewis 4 Scugog 2 This was also a hotly contested game as both teams needed the 2 points to get back into the race for the final. Lewis scored the only 2 goals of the first period but if it wasn't for Kyle McClymont's hot goalten- ding, Scugog would have been at least tied going into the second period. Robert Gracie opened the scor- ing, assisted by Justin Wootton, then Kristen Wootton gave them a 2 goal lead assisted by Jeremy Stevens and Justin Wootton. Matt Brown then scored for Scugog unassisted. Jeremy Stevens gave Lewis their 2 goal lead again assisted by Scott Swain and Jason Vader on- ly to have Matt score his second goal assisted by Jason Hopkins, to give Lewis a 1 goal lead heading into the final period. Scott Swain closed out the scoring with Matt Baxter and Justin Wootton assisting. - Ld Mar. 11 Results Lewis 6 Whitby 1 With this victory Lewis moved into a second place tie with Tripp There was no scoring in the opening period but both teams had their chances. Lewis opened the scoring with Robert Gracie finding the net assisted by Justin Wootton and Bobbie Cracknell. Lewis then jumped into a 2 goal lead before the end of the period when Jason Vader and Bobbie teamed up to setup Justin Wootton, Lewis extended their lead in the third period when Kristen Woot- ton scored assisted by Jeremy Stevens and Chris Vandermeer then Chris from Tony Waldriff and Kristen. Whitby's lone goal was scored by Jason Brown assisted by Steven Heimstra. Justin scored his second of the day, assisted by Jeremy and Chris minutes later. Jason Vader closed out the scor- ing with Tony and Robert draw- ing the assists. Lions 5 Scugog 2 This game was well played as the Lions were looking to secure a berth in the final and Scugog looking to get back into the race. The Lions took a 2 goal lead in the first period when Scott Pret- chitko scored assisted by Ryan Duff and Greg Pugh. Ryan found the open net with Noah Smith and Devon Blair assisting. Scugog got back into the game when Matt Brown scored unassisted early into the second period. With time running out in the period Ryan scored again assisted by Trevor Smith and Noah Smith. With victory in sight the Lions scored the next 2 goals. The first by Terry Jellicoe Phillips. Then Ryan getting his: hat trick assisted by Colin- Outram and Noah. Chris Drury scored Scugog's last goal' unassisted. "The Lions now must wait until Mar. 25th, when Tripp and Lewis meet in the final game of the round robin to see who they meet in the final April 1st. They were consolation champs at a tournament held In Pickering March 4, and did pretty well at their own tourna- ment held March 8, placing third.
