Considering the strong leadership this team has had from the coaches Dan Harris, . Rick Webb and Steve Payne it was no surprise that these girls . would make a fine showing at the - Petite B level in the Regionals. . OnFriday evening the Brutons' . Petites met Beaverton at the new arena in Lindsay, It was a very fast paced game with both teams playing very well. With Sarah Coyne in net and fine defensive play as well as great offence pur team dominated the play - throughout most of the game. There'were many excellent of- fengive rushes and fine passing which kept the fans on their feet through the whole game as the two teams traded goals and kept up the pressure from start to finish. The Beaverton team, led by star player Dawn Coucette, has been a challenge all season but Port Perry managed a 5-5 tie against them by coming back from a two goal deficit in an ex- citing last period. ban Early Saturday morning Port Perry met Oshawa. The game started with Oshawa taking the lead and scoring two goals on our sleepy team within the first three minutes. Port Perry fought back and eventually made the score 5 - to 4 only to have Oshawa tie the game with only 20 seconds left. Two games - two ties - was this to be the pattern for our girls in the Regionals this year? (Turn tu page 27)
