Luh. AVS ef Regional' Clerk Trip to Roy Thomson Hall Geritol Follies enjoyed Scugog Island Area News by Mrs. Earl Reader Thursday was a memorable outing for the packed bus load of people from the Island and Port Perry driven by the dependable bus owner Geo. Freeman to the Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto to see the Geritol Follies, a group of seniors from Hamilton, none of whom are under 60 years of age. - It was a joy to see the Hall, perhaps: for the first time, the directed seating arrangement, the lighting and acoustics. We were deeply impressed with the opening when the attractive choir of perhaps 60 members all in place and 2 attractive ladies did cartwheels across the stage. This was followed by a variety pro- gram of song, dances, and fun gangs and concluding with an im- pressionable number of "Hands Across the Border" for Can. & U.S. Most numbers involved beautiful costumes. I'm sure after seeing this pro- gram most older members of the audience felt encouraged and felt like stepping a little higher. - But this wasn't the end of the afternoon, because all crossed the street where preparations had been arranged for dinner at "Ed's Warehouse" an extremely in- teresting place with stained glass, windows, statues and relics from around the world. If you missed this trip, keep in touch for another possible occa- sion in Aug. that might include local entertainers. We owe many thanks to Helen Redman for tak- ing the responsibility of all the arrangements. However, close to home the Island people will be responsible for a double feature at the corner of Conc. 10 when a hot luncheon will be served at the United Church at 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The community hall on the corner will be opened by the "Head" pre-owned U.C.W. for their variety as described in last weeks paper with heading "Country Cooking" Bake Sale held. But as you read the article you find there are many other attractions. It seem- ed that all the demonstrators were from the Island. But now we have found another, Mrs. Norma Iley from Port Perry who has a variety to include smocking & special placemats & will have a wall hanging of the same material. The Scugog. Social Planning Council will hold its Annual Meeting when we may decide on a different day of the week to make it easier for Ministers and others to attend. We are hoping for a new slate of officers and new ideas for the coming year & perhaps more representatives from more organizations. We are continually interested in the physical progress of Clare Fralick, 37, son of Raymond & Florence Fralick and a resident of the Foot of the Island with wife and 2 small children. Of course he is still in hospital with slow bodi- ly improvement but mourns the loss of both eyes following a bad car accident in the Blackstock area. Our prayers should be for him and his 'involved family members and their future life style beyond the days of suffering and support. We are aware of a couple of bir- thdays coming up. Dave Wood of Conc. 13 for April 20 and Jim Tower, Conc. 9 for April 24. Hope you can get together and celebrate. Best Wishes from all who know both of you.
