Scugog Christian School news Grandparents visitors at Christian School The students of Scugog Chris- tian School hosted their grand- parents last Wednesday, and a good time was had by all. The grandparents were treated to songs, skits and recitations by the students that morning; the fourth graders served coffee and donuts, the fifth graders were waiters and waitresses at lunch. A time was spent visiting the classrooms as well. The Kindergarten class really enjoyed their visif'to the zoo. the cold weather seemed to liven up those big animals and they put on quite a show during, swimming, fighting. A snack at McDonald's on the way home was a good way to end the outing. The children made alphabet books last week, writing the let- ters and illustrating them as well. In French they are reviewing body parts by playing "Simon Dit," a game they learned from the first and second graders. They've also started a new unit called "My Feelings' with talks about basic human feelings and how we as Christians should deal with each one! The grades one finished their math books last week and began a review period. After that, they will begin with some grade two material. The grade two's con- tinue with multiplication and divi- sion. Both classes are studying plants, including growing their own plants. The grades three, four and five's are studying explorers of the world in social studies and in bible they are making maps of Palestine out of paper mache. What a gooey, messy and fun business! The grades six, seven and eights have just ended three weeks of elective classes, in: sten- cilling, cooking and baking or woodworking and electrical work. Last Friday five students attend- ed the Fine Arts Festival at Durham Christian High School in Bowmanville, and this Thursday is the volleyball tournament there as well. The science unit on body systems and their relation to fitness really captured the students' interest, and Mrs. Guet- ter was helped by some very in- teresting contributions from students: a fresh looking animal's skull and skeleton from the Guen- thers, and a pig's eye and snout from Jeremy Stevens. The dental clinic and hospital also helped out with teeth specimens and x-rays of different bone structures. Keep the contributions coming - they really help. Kindergarten Registration is Tuesday, May 2. Prospective kindergarteners are invited to spend the morning in the school. The health nurses will be there to do vision and hearing tests and to chat with the parents. Please bring your child's immunization records.
