The owner has been iden- tified by the license plates and billed approximately the towing fees. Next year, Nicole will con- tinue her French Immersion studies at high school, and said she is thinking of language studies at the university level when the time comes. And most certainly she is aiming for a career where she can put to use her fluency in both official languages. - *I want to keep speaking (both languages) it is so easy to lose (the skills) if you don't use them." she said. Though her surname is French (her father is originally from Quebec and moved to On- tario at a young age) Nicole said the family does not speak French at home very often. Delivering a five minute speech in French still causes her to have a few butterflies, but she has learned to live with that, and is not nearly as ner- vous about public speaking as she was a couple of years ago. "I guess you just get used to it," she explained. While she said it would have been nice to finish first in the provincial competitions, she was very proud of her second place finish and the chance to represent her school and Dur- _ham Region. And next year, she plans to enter the competitions again. Don't bet against Nicole Montpetit bringing home a first place finish.
