Congratulations to Tim Cochrane and Kelly Hacking who were married on Sat. in a beautiful wedding in the St. Georges of Iorest Hill Church in Kitchener. Following their honey- moon in Dominican Republic they will be living in their house in Hespler. Many friends and relatives from this area attended this wedding. Neil and Edith Johnston of Boissevain, Manitoba visited Kathleen and Dalton Dorrell and called on other relatives in the area. They were in Ontario to at- tend his brother Keith and Ruth's wedding anniversary last Sat. in Belleville. Tracy Cochrane returned home from her studies in Wyoming on Thursday - just in time to be part of her brother Tim's wedding on Saturday. Welcome home Tracy. Members of the Blackstock Agricultural Society are remind- ed of the régular meeting to be held on Thursday evening in the Rec Centre. Frank Hoskin underwent surgery last Tuesday in Oshawa Hospital. We wish him continued improvement back to good health. The first meeting of Energy and Conservation 4-H Club will be held this Tuesday May 9 at 7:30 at Blackstock United Church. Challenge winners Firefighters from Scugog Hall No. 1 (Port Perry) and employees at Mother Jackson's Open Kitchen were honoured by the Kinsmen and Kinette Clubs of Port Perry recently for thelr contributions to the blood donor clinic held April 14. Kinette Lisa Savage (second from left), chairman of the clinic committee, presented a Service Club Challenge plaque for the first time. The plaque honours the Port Perry fire hall for having the highest percentage turnout at the clinic. Captain Don Steele (left) accepted the plaque. The Corporate Chal- - lenge plaque, won last year by employees at Lake Scugog Lumber, was turned over by Ralph Bailey (right) to this year's winner Mother Jackson's. The plaque was accepted by Clare Fluke. Roger Simmons has been ac- cepted to the Westpark Hospital, Toronto a rehabilitation facility for respiratory patients. He'll be there for the next 6-8 weeks com- ing home for the weekends. Anne-Marie Hoogeveen is visiting relatives in Holland since the completion of her classes and before her graduation the end of May. Her local friends are reminded of the ordination service of Susan Sheen that will take place in St. Paul's Church, 45 Russell St. West., Lindsay on May 17 at 8 P.M. Susan taught high school for Drive shed destroyed An out of control grass fire de- stroyed a drive shed containing valuable antiques on a farm east of Blackstock May 4. Murray Archibald, Lot 18, Concession 2, was burning brush in a gulley in front of his property around the banks of a creek last Thursday afternoon, when high winds took the flames and spread them into a nearby field. The fire continued to reach out and eventually spread to ap- roximately 100 round bales of ul stored next to a driveshed, containing a variety of antique furniture. Firefighters from Scugog Hall No. 2 (Caesarea) took the call at 3:24 p.m. and arrived at the scene at 3:41. Scugog Hall No. 1 (Port Perry) was also called in to assist. Firefighters remained at the scene until nearly 8 p.m. bat- tling the blaze, which at one point threatened to reach a nearby treeline. The small barn and all the an- tiques inside were destroyed, but no estimate of value was available. Several hours after the blaze was extinguished, firefighters from Caesarea were again called to the Archibald property at 2:03 a.m. to douse the smol- dering bales of hay which had began to flare up. They worked until 4 a.m. making sure the fire 'was completely out. Firefighters are cautioning Scugog residents not to do any burning in windy weather. There have been several grass fires in recent weeks. many years at C.H.S. before she entered the Ministry. Gerald and Joyce Kelly, Elaine and Esther hosted a family gathering on Sunday when the Graham cousins enjoyed a day together. Attending were Harvey and Joan Graham, Cheryl, Mark and Rob Graham of Purple Hill, Mrs. Elva Graham, Louis Graham, Tom and Lois Feltis, Cherl Feltis and Brett Carrigan of Lake Dalrymple, Jean Jones, Patrick and Justin of Lindsay, Elizabeth and Peter Peeters of Omemee. Keith and Wilma VanCamp en- joyed a weekend with their daughter Leanne and Jim O'Don- nell and Ashley at their new trailer at Hanover. On Sunday afternoon the Van- Camp family held a family gathering a the Blackstock United Church when four recently mar- ried couples were honoured at presentation. The cousins honoured were Susan Gunter, Leanne Werry, Charlie and Steven McMillan and their spouses. Much visiting and cat- ching up on news of the various branches of the family was en- joyed as well as bountiful pot luck dinner.
