Lawn bowling needs expansion in future We are frequently told of the tremendous growth that is taking place in our senior population. The Port Perry Lawn Bowling Club is a good example of this. We have grown from 30 members in 1985 to 96 in 1988. With this tremendous growth taking place we expect we will need another green and an extension to our clubhouse in the not too distant future. We have space for both.' To avoid going to the town and consequently the taxpayer for a large amount in the future we are attempting to plan ahead and do as much as we can ourselves. We have asked the town council to move a fence, on one side, to ful- ly inclose the property. And of course we are also looking for our share in any recreational budget. This enables us to keep the fees from rising in the hope that peo- ple in all circumstances can participate. We are operating as business- like as possible and taking advan- tage of any government grants that are available. We will also be running a number of activities this summer to: 1. Introduce lawn bowling to as many people as possible (including the schools) and 2. to raise funds towards the expansion we know is inevitable. We hope we can count on your support.
