Festival Days fun this weekend (From page 1) During the day, don't miss a slide show of Great Britain with lively commentary from the British Tourist Authority, a karate demonstration, the Fun- land Band, the Golden Slippers, and the bus tour (which starts at2p.m.). At 6:30 p.m., teenagers will want to check out the California Beach Party with barbecue, skateboard show and BMX bike demonstrations at the teen tent. At the same time, adults can enjoy a chicken and rib dinner, and surfboard competition in the Festival Tent with The Me- chanical Surfboard Extrava- ganza (and dancing too). During this dance, and the Saturday night Festival Tent dance, the door prize will be a trip for two to England, courte- sy of Thomson Vacations and Odyssey International, The Pearly Queen will be per- formingin the Barley Mow both Friday and Saturday nights. * On Saturday, don't miss the bargain breakfast offered by Golden Griddle, starting at 8 a.m. at the lakefront. Admis- siononly .99 cents! The Mutt Show starts at 9 a.m. on the Queen Street stage, the same time as registration - for the Dart Tournament hap- pens at the Barley Mow. Two Blue Jays players make an appearance at 10 a.m. at the Festival Tent (they will also ap- pear laterin the day at the Slam Dunk Contest, at noon). Also on Saturday afternoon: a merchants' auction, mini soccer tourney, Mock F.A. Soccer Cup, Mini Wimbleton tennis, Festi- val of the Arts, dance demon- stration by Inta Leja, an arm wrestling tournament, and an- other slide show at Ye Olde Town Hall. At 2 p.m. do not miss the Evinrude Ski Show, featuring the C.N.E. Skiers (at 2, and again at 4 p.m. at the lake- front). At 6:30 p.m. the Sexy contest winners and the merchant con- test winners are announced at the bandshell. At 7 p.m. the Festival Tent doors open to a Tribute to Brit- ish rock featuring "Over the Garden Wall", a tribute to Gen- esis, and "Midnight Ramblers", a tribute to the Rolling Stones. At 8 p.m. Ye Olde Town Hall opens for a Classical Cabaret.
