2 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, July 25, 1989 Animal shelter unveiled B98 The joint Scugog/Uxbridge animal shelter which is being: proposed for the Township's works yard on Durham Road 8 moved one step closer Monday when council viewed the plans. Architect Blain Lalonde un- veiled the plans for a 2,342 sq. ft. building with 16 cages and outside runs for animals. The buildings, which is esti- mated will cost about $200,000, will be built facing Durham Road 8 on the east side of the road leading into Scugog's works department. Mr. Lalonde explained the fa- cility would be 54'x30' and the main building would include an reception office, staff kitchen, storage, medical examination room, a room for wild animals, wash-down area and food prep- aration area, an isolation room and a quarantine room. The open cages to house do would be 6'x4' with an outside run covered by fibreglass roof. Uxbridge council saw the plans on Monday afternoon. Cost of erecting the building will be shared by the two mu- nicipalities, who have had joint animal control for several years.
