Local 4-H members participate in 'Go For the Gold" competition at Latcham Centre On Wednesday, August 2, 1989 at about 0830 hours a 30 year old female was attacked in the underground parking garage at 516 Canonberry Court in Oshawa. This time the man held the gun on her and forc- ed her into the stairwell where he sexually assaulted her. He then ran away through the underground garage. Questions included: What is the gestation period of a sow. a) 90 days b) 114 days c) 200 days or d) 360 days. (An- swer--114 days) What month is dairy month? (Answer --June.) Name four food groups in the Canadian Food Guide. (Answer -- fruits and vegetables, bread and cereals, milk and milk prod- ucts, and meat and alterna- tives.) : Each game saw two teams battle it out. The audience was often heard chuckling when male-dominated teams were asked questions on knitting. The set up for the competition is similar to the popular Reach for the Top game show. A medi- ator asks questions and compet- itors must "buzz in" to win the right to answer. ach game consisted of 50 questions posed in different ways: true or false, team ques- tions, assigned, one word an- swers and "what am I" ques- tions. Every team competed in two matches and then the two high- est scoring teams advanced to the championship round. The Sunderland Dairy club won the competition. Team members included Ian McFad- den, Yancy Crosier, Ken Carson and Robert Raines. Runllersan were the Dur- ham West Veterinary Science club consisting of Laura Phoe- nix, Barclay Phoenix, Kathy Wetherall, and Darrell Wade. Other teams were the Dur- ham West Rabbit club, South Ontario Dairy club, Georgina- Brock Let's Landscape club, Ux- bridge Dairy club, Durham West Farm Machinery club, Durham West Sheep club, Can- -nington Working with Wool club, and the North Ontario Dairy club. The top participants in the Go For The Gold competition have been selected for the all-star team. The team will represent Durham West at the regional fi- nals October 14 in Milton at the Agricultural Museum. All-star team members are David Moore (Uxbridge Dairy club) Steve Taylor (Farm Ma- chinery club) Yancy Crosier and Ken Carson (Sunderland Dairy club).
