Premier David Peterson serves hot dogs to party sup- porters, with the help of Northumberiand MPP Joan Fawcett during the Liberal Picnic last Friday afternoon. Mr. Peterson made his way through the crowd greeting his supporters for about an hour. PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, August 15, 1989 -- 15 After stopping in both Ottawa and King- ston early in the day, Premier David Peterson rolled into Camp Samac, Oshawa last Friday afternoon to partake in his third party picnic of the day. The Premier appeared fresh and eager to meet his supporters as he stepped from his car, but the first people to greet him were pro- testers of the proposed bage dump in Whitevale and members of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union. Unflap by their presence, the Premier walked into the group of protesters and lis- tened to their concerns. In a brief speech to party faithful Premier Peterson thank the organizers and payed trib- ute to party workers who had kept Liberalism alive during the long Conservative dynasty.
