16 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, August 15, 1989 August 21 to 25 Vacation Bible school at Island Scugog Island Area News by Mrs. Earl Reader Wouldn't you know? The reserved tickets for the bus trip to Roy Thompson Hall for Friday, long. Aug. 25 are all gone. I hope you didn't -leave your decision too By now, many children have tired of summer holidays and no Sunday School classes so are ready for Vacational Bible school, which many churches are spon- soring. We, therefore, again re- mind you of the one at the Island United Church, August 21 - 25. This is open to children 3 to 12 years from any church or maybe some who do not attend any special church. The hours are 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon. The program has been well planned & is called "Wonder Faire' and will include clowns, skits & songs. Each day there will be crafts, games, stories & snacks. Other years have shown that lots of space is required. Therefore children 3 to 6 years will go to the community hall. New washrooms will accom- modate all who attend at the church. As a conclusion on Friday Aug. 25 there will be a closing hot dog picnic with the parents. Now this all requires lots of help in many areas. So, if you can spare some time, very interesting and well spent, just call Jan Ger- row 985-3025 and talk it over. Mrs. Elsie Angus of Kinmount is vactioning at her former paren- tal home, now owned by brother, Nelson and Betty Reader. Though some Island people received heavy rain on Sat. the. ones at the church chicken barbecue were glad that it spared them this time. I believe most Island people will be sorry to lose the sevices, in a couple of months, of Brown's Sanitation collection, as their work has been so satisfactorty & cheerfully carried out. Sorry, no phone calls with addi- tional news. Three-year-old Emil y Davis enjoys corn on the cob at the fourth annual Scugog Island Chicken Barbecue.
