PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, August 22, 1989 -- 25 conftest Angie Dowson was fifth in Minte Prince Albert and Area News by Peggy Bredin On August 6, Angie Dowson competed at the Minte Invita- tional in Ottawa and came 5th. LeighAnne Prentice of Port Perry joined Angie, Ken, and Maureen there. Ken and Maureen later in the evening joined other skating parents, and went to Hull, Quebec for a lovely dinner. On another occasion before Ot- tawa, Angie competed at Niagara Falls and came 1st and won a lovely trophy. Congratulations from all Prince Albert. Ken and Maureen, like so many other devoted parents should be con- gratulated for all the time spent going to these competitions. A little bird told me that Brain and Sue Langford have bought a travel agency in Ajax. They will be oftering discount tickets and also a delivery service. Good luck from all of us. Remember that we have only two weeks left before school starts. With the beginning of school comes regular Thursday Night Euchre. More about that next week. Gavin Stanley had a birthday last week. We hope he had a good time. Gavin will be going to R.H. Cornish next year as part of the gifted program. Don't forget your friends here, please Gavin. Some folks travelled by private car and others via Kerr's lovely bus service to be part of the well attended Ross and Sam's P.C. BBQ, and entertainment in Orono Thursday evening. A good time was had by all. Ken and Maureen Dowson's eldest daughter Tracy has an- nounced her engagement to Bill Goddard of Oshawa. The wedding will take place June 16, 1990. Con- gratulations from all of Prince Albert. Janis and Bob Glanville opened up their house and pool for a baby shower hosted by Dawn Sutherland and Diane Pelletier. The shower was for Lisa and Bailley Ellen Gould. Lisa used to babysit Janis and Bob's Lindsay awhile ago. John and I attended a Bell Canada BBQ at Peggy and Terry Staples of Janetville. On a hay ride we met the Janetville monster. Later while sitting around a campfire in the rain John and fellow worker Rick Neil entertained us by playing new and old tunes on John's har- monicas and Rick's guitar.
