Friends gathered to celebrate the 123rd anniversary of the building. Rev. COATS Deacon Brothers sportwear Dr. Bruce MacDougall was the guest speaker. He is the Ex- ecutive Secretary of the Hamilton Conference of the United Church. He gave us a "down-to-earth" talk on the past, future and pre- sent of the United Church. The congregation was involved by stating their memories about our church. Many had relatives who have been going to this church for generations. My first memory was of my middle child, dressed in a frilly outfit crawling under the pews. I felt the church would never accept us into the fold, but last Sunday Heather sat beside us and this time quietly en- joyed the service. She has come a long way. The soloist was Reta Stickwood from Sunderland. She sang 'Let Us Serve Him" and "More Love to Thee." Her melodious voice fill- ed our sanctuary and the con- gregation could not restrain from breaking into applause. Other music was provided by the Choir and Eva and Linda Hunter. It warmed our hearts to see Linda play the organ while her mother played the piano. | | he Short Ski Jacket.
