The following impressions were written by Grade 2 students from Mrs. Watson's and Mrs. Plump- ton's classes. Let Me Tell You a Story by Lindsay McCallum Once upon a time I was an ap- ple seed. I was buried in the ground. I was all dirty. People gave me water everyday. Soon I was an apple tree. First the bran- ches came, then the blossoms came next, then the leaves came, then the apples came next, then I was an apple tree forever. Peo- ple picked apples off of me. Apple Orchard by Amy Davidson At the apple orchard we went on a hay ride and the teachers had to walk behind the wagon. We got to pick apples and put the apples in a bag. I had a great time. Apple Orchard Trip by Lindsay Spielman At the apple orchard we saw bee hives. We also got to pick two apples to eat. We saw deer and ponies. It was exciting there. We even stayed for lunch. S. A. Cawker staff and students were very pleased with the number of visitors who came to the school on Curriculum Night. She taught her- self to paint, but didn't get into it seriously until after she re- tired from her teaching profes- sion seven years ago. "I didn't teach art but used art in my teaching," Mrs. Hoad said. She said using art as a tool of- ten helped the students over- come difficulties and gave them a sense of confidence. i To hone their skills, the Hoads studied for one month a year for four years at the Insti- tuto de Allende in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Although many of the paint- ings Mrs. Hoad is displaying at the library are florals, a few are subjects she painted while stud- yingin Mexico. She also likes to paint land- scapes and people.
