In order for the leagues to start on time we would like the parents to make sure their children are at the lanes 10 minutes before their bowling time. We find we are still running a little behind time. Also we would like the parents to pick up their children at the end of their bowling time as we do not like to see these children waiting for any length of time for pick up. The times that the YBC's bowl are: Bantams 10:30 - 12:30 Juniors 12:30 - 2:30 - Afternoon Bantams 2:30 - 4:30 On Saturday, October 21, the Youth Bowling Council will be starting its Fund Raising Cam- paign. The YBC members will be receiving chocolate covered almonds to sell to friends, neighbours and relatives. There are forms at the bowling alley for pre-selling and can be picked up before the 21st. Parents are ask- ed to come in to the bowling alley on Saturday to make sure their children receive almonds as the kids will be responsible for any almonds taken for sale. This is a PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, October 17, 1989 -- 27 Young bowlers hold a 'buddy' tournament fun campaign with badges and prizes offered. The Executive hopes everyone had a nice Thanksgiving and as we had quite a lot of boys bowling off as October 14 was Apple Day. We hope they all did well. Malmont Atoms clip Uxbridge On Friday evening regular season play continued when Mal- mont Farms hosted our neighbours to the west from Ux- bridge. The visitors did not take long to make their presence felt when they scored with only a minute and a half gone in the game. On the next shift, Daryl McEnaney sailed down the length of ice on right wing and scored Port Perry's first goal unassisted. Uxbridge again pulled in front when one of their forewards pick- ed up a rebound and blasted it high into the net on Jamie Reid's stick side. Port Perry had trouble clearing the puck from their own zone until midway through the se- cond frame when Timmy Fitz- patrick fired a high hard one from twenty feet out to beat the Ux- bridge goalie. Assists went to Daryl McEnaney and Tommy Chambers. This goal sparked the home team and they got their act together scoring twice early in the third to take a 4-2 lead. Daryl Moase from Kevin Gray and Todd Parry and later Todd unassisted on a strange goal from beside the net - Good work Todd. Uxbridge answered with one late in the third but after that, the "Iron Curtain defence' of Jason MAINTENANCE 1g HHEVA RY Logan, Jeff Clarke, Mike Heasman and Brad Morton took over to slam the door. On Saturday, the team went "Big Time' and travelled to the Civic Auditorium in Oshawa for an exhibition game against Magill Business Forms of the Little N.H.L.. Both teams skated through a scoreless first period while feeling each other out. Oshawa got un- tracked first and scored two unanswered goals in the second and one early in the third. Finally Malmont Farms settled down and scored their first mid- way through the final period when Jeff Clarke made one of his end to end rushes to get us back in it. Daryl McEnaney continued the comeback three minutes later with another one from Daryl Moase and Todd Parry. The home team, their lead down to one, real- ly got nervous when Daryl Moase rang one off the crossbar with on- ly minutes left. Port continued to press until curfew and clearly carried the play. However it was too little too late at the buzzer. This week we travel to Cobourg on Tuesday and host Bowman- ville on Friday at 8:00 p.m.. Come on out and catch some ex- citing action!
