Arte, f i | 10 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, October 24, 1989 Nostalgia night will feature "Big Bands" The residents of Port Perry are going to have a musical treat on Friday, November 3 at the Islander Dance Hall, from 8 p.m. tol a.m. The Port Perry Cancer Society 1S sponsoring a nostalgia night of Big Band Music and a variety of other entertainment. Music from the 40's, 50's and 60's will be per- formed by groups of musicians, many of whom played in the Big Bands in the Big Band Era. Sur- prinsingly, a great number of these older arrangements for Big Bands are still around -- lying quietly tucked away in an old suit- case in the cellar. Once again, we can go and thrill to the Big Band sound of "Moonlight Serenade," "One O'Clock Jump," "Harbour Lights" and so many others which bring back a host of fond memories of a bygone time. The Step-In-Time Clog Dancers will also be performing for your enjoyment. Make sure you don't miss this once-in-a-lifetime event. Look for the advertisement in this issue for details. The owner of the Islander Dance Hall is generously donating the door proceeds to the Cancer Society. All the per- formers are donating their time, effort and talents. Local mer- chants are also giving exciting door prizes. Every year the Cancer Society seems to have more need for funds. Do come and hear this lovely music and enjoy an evening of listening, dancing and fun. on Fashion SPECIALIZING IN LADIES' AFFORDABLE FASHIONS Hours: Mon. to Sat. 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM; Fri. to 8 PM.
