Van Camp pulled their goalie with 1 minute left in the third period to try and get the equalizer, but an empty net goal at the 56 second mark by Port Perry Printing put the lid on the game. PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, October 31, 1989 -- 21 B Pee Wee Bs run into some tough sledding The Scugog Overhead Doors Pee Wee No. 2 team played an ex- hibition game Saturday morning at the Civic Auditorium against LNHL Blackhawks and went down in defeat 3-2. Coach Prechitko commented that the team did not play up to expecta- tion as lack of effort and sloppy play was their downfall. Port Perry was down 3-0 until the last 10 seconds of the second period when Daryl Bourgeois and Brent Harper scrambled in front of the Blackhawks net, got the puck to Matt Hobbs who popped it into the net. In the third period Matt Hobbs in the right place at the right time got a good pass from Rick Olaisen to get his second goal of the game and end the scoring. A tongue in cheek talk with the team after the game proved effec- tive as Port Perry came out and dominated their night-time league game against Newcastle. Although they lost 5-4 this was no indication of the effort given by the team. Port could have easily won this one except that the luck around the net at both ends of the rink was against them. Port scored the first two goals of the game. Goals went to Rick Olaisen and Kent Taylor. Assists going to Jeremy Geer 2 and Kent Taylor. Newcastle got the next three goals. Port came on witn back to back goals. On a combination pass from Daryl Bourgeois and Matt Hobbs. Mike Labanovich us- ed his baseball skills to tie the game up. One minute later hard work by Jeremy Geer and Rick Olaisen behind the net resulted in Kent Taylor putting a nifty wrist shot over the goalies shoulder putting Port ahead 4-3. Newcastle finish- ed off the scoring with two more goals ending the game 5-4 over Port. Due to the amount of penalty minutes in the last league game, Coach Mike viewed from the stands, which left manager Ralph busy and assistant coach "TIM" doing his "BIT" on the bench. Millbrook downed Port Perry 4-2 in league action. Millbrook started strong, scoring 4¢ unanswered goals. Halfway through the second period, Port started passing and body checking. Playing short- handed, Ricky Olaisen won the face off. Jason Reid picked the puck up and took it up the ice put- ting it right between the goalie's legs.
