Bret Lawson played an outstanding game on defense with many great checks, both body and stick. Congratulations Bret for a well play of their own. Port's goaltending was an asset to the team during the tourna- ment. James Paterson and Scot Prechitko did an outstanding job making many breathtaking and key saves. Sunday evening, Port travelled to Port Hope for the rematch of an early season shellacking. Against one of the stronger teams in the league, Port produced an ex- cellent effort to gain a come-from- behind 3-3 tie. After dominating play in the first period and being unable to score, Port fell behind 1-0 on a power play early in the second. Three minutes later Jay T. took Craig's pass the length of the ice and, waiting till the goalie went down, snapped a lovely shot up on the top shelf. A couple of quick mistakes gave Port Hope a 3-1 lead in less than a minute midway through the third, but to the Legionaire's credit, they refused to fold, Chad, who had played an aggressive of- fensive game, made a rush with Port shorthanded, circled the net and found Billy in front for a goal to close the score to 3-2. With less th a win and a tie _ preserve the tie in a game they richly deserved to win. The improved play will be welcome, as they travel to Thorold for an A tournament next weekend.
