Former Grand Knight John Franssen addressed the membership and expressed his appreciation to his fellow Knights for their support and encourage- men} during the last two years in which he led the Council. Council Chaplain Fr. A. Grima officiated at a special Mass at- tended by members of the local Council. A reception with refreshments was held in Im- maculate Conception Parish Hall afterwards, attended also by the wives of the Knights. Also present was District Depu- ty Dennis Leonard, who address- ed the membership, and also presented the coveted Star Coun- cil Award to former Grand Knight John Franssen. This special award is given to very few Councils in Ontario. It is awarded to a Council who com- pletes very large projects in their community, and this award is 'very difficult to win. Under the leadership of former Grand Knight John Franssen, two - major projects were undertaken locally, and successfully com- pleted. Also awarded to the Port Perry Council were the 'Best Cr Council Award' and the "Trillium Award."
