Reflexolog Renee Bos makes sure her cli- ents put their best foot forward. She works as a reflexologist at the Port Perry Clinic on Queen Street. Mrs. Bos explained to the Port Perry Star that a reflexolo- gist massages the feet to help cure body ailments. Each foot has five zones that correspond with different parts of the body, she said. "Gentle pressure (or reflexology treat- ments) dissolve toxins in the body. It relaxes tension and im- proves circulation , bringing a better oxygen supply to the dif- ferent organsin 5 body." "The body heals itself," she said." I'mjust an aid." Mrs. Bos was introduced to drugless therapy in her native homeland Holland. She told the Star that as a young girl she got severe migrane headaches. Mrs. Bos began taking reflexol- ogy treatments to relieve the headaches. She still visits a reflexologist once every three weeks for a treatment. "Reflexology can also be a pre- ventitive treatment," she said. "It's an excellent remedy for stress-related problems." ~ If Mrs. Bos is unable to work on the client's feet because they are too sensitive or have been amputated, she can find the pressure points on the client's hands. For each 45-minute session, the client can either lie down or sit up on a massage lounge. Mrs. Bos said the treatment is so relaxing, some patients fall asleep before the session is com- plete. Because reflexology is classi- fied as an alternative form of treatment, Mrs. Bos is not al- lowed to diagnose a client's con- dition or prescribe any medica- tion. The musical expertise of Mr. Reid, Mr. Murray and Mrs. Cooper add- ed a great deal to the performance. Students from Mrs. Morton's grade 3-4 class have offered their impressions of Remembrance Day. War I think war is terrible, but I'm glad war stopped. If I was in the war I would try my best to fight for my country. They took young boys and girls at ages eighteen and nineteen. There were two wars, World War I and World War 2. A lot of families got split up. In war a lot of people died. Poppies grew around them. They got buried in Flanders Field. That's why now in the 11th month on the 11th day in the 11th hour we remember. By Cheryl Thompson, Gr. 4, Mrs. Morton's Class War to me and everyone else is a very very awful thing. With one drop of a bomb or missile hun- dreds could be killed or seriously hurt. When I grow up I hopefully won't have to go to war like many other people forty years ago. On Remembrance Day I feel sad for the people who died. But I'm also happy because our country is a free country. By Wyatt Park, Gr. 4, Mrs. Morton's Class Remembrance Day Remembrance Day is a day to Remember the people who fought to make peace for us. Many of those people were killed and crippled. That's why on November eleventh we all wear a Poppy to remember the people who fought for us. "In other countries, the alter- native treatments like reflexol- ogy are widely excepted and covered by the medical plans." Mrs. Bos said she worked as a nurse in Holland, but decided to study reflexology after coming to Canada. "I didn't want to go back to working in a hospital, with all the shift work," she said. "Things have changed so much over the years. "I still feel strongly that we need the medical profession as stress, migranes well as the alternative thera- pists,"Mrs. Bos said. "I always tell my clients to continue other medical treat- ments they may be receiving" regardless of how well they may be feeling because of the reflex- ology treatments. Mrs. Bos works out of the!
