The A [11] 900 Hopkins St. at Burns Whitby ~~ 668-3192 The Second Port Perry Guides, under the leadership of Ann Wuhrmann and junior leaders Anette Stainton and Jessica - Blake, visited the fire hall last Wednesday evening, working on their Fire Safety Badge. Firefighters Paul Dick and Stuart Houthuys taught the girls about fire prevention and what to do in an emergency. The girls were taught what they can do should a fire strike. The dangers of fires and smoke were discuss- ed along with the procedure taken to sound the alarm both to the fire department and to the occupants in the burning building. At this time of year when Christmas lights are sparkling over town and countryside and woodstoves are forever burning, it's really essen- tial to learn about fire safety. The guides and their leaders ap- preciated immensely the time and knowledge firefighters Dick and Houthuys shared with them. These two men always take great delight in teaching fire safety and to these men we are indebted to them spending their time with the girls. The First Port Perry Pathfinders, under the leadership of Claire Stainton and Robin Scallon have been studying China under their world Emblem challenge. The girls recently cooked an entire supper of Chinese food at the Kinsmen Hall. From the reports I've heard the food was really good! With Christmas fast ap- proaching, it's that time for par- ties again.
