There were also concerns expressed by council about the intersection of the boundary road and the Oshawa Road, an intersection on top of a hill with poor visibility lines. The proposal needs an offi- cial plan amendment from Dur- ham Region. It is expected that' the proposal will be back in front of local council for further Slagiasion early in the New ear. Recycle Xmas trees? Now that Christmas trees are banned in landfill sites, what do Scugog residents do with their trees once December 26 has come and gone? Scugog Township council is now in the process of working out a plan to provide a drop-off area where residents can leave the old trees. The plan may even include curbside pick-up of old trees, though that remains a question mark following Monday's meet- ing. : But the Township will pro- vide areas where trees can be dropped off by residents (likely muncipal works yards) And once the trees are dropped off, what happens to them? Well, Scugog is going to turn them into wood chips that can be used in flower gardens throughout municipal parks next spring and summer. Further details on the plans to "re-cycle" the old Christmas trees will be worked . out by the Township and made public in the next couple of weeks. Library needs repairs Water is causing serious damage to exterior bricks at the Scugog Memorial Library, and - Township council wants an en- gineering consultant to find out why and come up with sugges- fionie on how to correct the prob- em. Council was told Monday that run-off water from the Li- brary roof appears to be seeping behind the brick work in several areas, and a few bricks are actu- ally starting to crumble. ; Repairing and replacing the bricks could cost as much as $10,000, but before spending that money, council wants their engineering consultants to take a hard look at the overall prob- lem.
