Local establishments show little interest Ontarians can have a legal drink in licensed bars until la.m.on Sundays. The legislation was passed by the provincial government November 29, that Sunday clos- ing times would be extended by two hours from the prior 11 p.m, closing. The Sunday opening time will still remain 12 noon, Hours for New Year's Eve, also a Sunday this year, will be extending to 2a.m., as it has in previous years. The later regular hours for Sunday are at the option of the establishment. Establishments are allowed to close up early, if they wish, according to legal council for the Ontario Liquor License Board. Fire guts home at Chalk Lake A fire the afternoon of Mon- day, December 5 gutted a home on the Chalk Lake Road and has left two persons homeless. Firefighters say the blaze broke out in the kitchen shortly before noon, but the exact cause has not been determined. There were no injuries to the two women who lived in the house, but two dogs and two catswerekilled. Firefighters from Uxbridge and Port Perry responded to the alarm which was turned in when neighbours = spotted smoke coming from the brick home.
