Blue Ray Christmas Meeting and Party Blue Ray Chapter, No. 238, OES, held a most delightful par- ty and meeting in the Masonic Temple, Port Perry, on Thurs- day, December 14, 1989, with an average attendance of brothers and sisters from neighbouring Chapters...along with Blue Ray members. Worthy Matron Sister Jane Galbraith and Associate Patron Brother Fred Alton were in the East and extended a warm, fraternal welcome to one and all. During the evening Don and Mary Alton of Scugog Island, became members of Blue Ray Chapter..with officers carrying out their duties re - initiation in a most efficient manner. We welcome this young couple into the Chapter and trust they will en- joy the work of the Order and the fellowship of the members. During correspondence our able secretary Sister Marg Jef- frey briefed members re - upcom- ing business. January 11 is In- spection Night, when all Officers will be on their toes...for the Of- ficial visit of D.D.G.M. Sister Bet- ty Rew. January 27, the Chapter will cater for the Masons' Annual Bobbie Burns' night. February 8, - will be Grand Officers Night. All members are asked to be suppor- tive for this special occasion. Lovely baskets of Christmas Cheer will be delivered to many appreciative shut-ins this week.,.under the guidance of Benevolent convener Sister Elsie Wilbur and Assistants Laura Alton, Isobell Wilson and Jean McDermott. After Chapter closed and of- ficers retired, members and guests retired to the lower Hall for the lively Christmas party. Jolly old Santa came bouncing in with a Ho! Ho! Puterbough, Judy Mitchell and Brenda Newsome, This brings to a close another "special" evening of fellowship. The Past Matrons Club was hosted in December by Sister Marg Jeffrey at her attractive home. Ths was the Annual Christmas party and enjoyed by a goodly number of members. Pleasurable Occasions It was indeed a pleasure for the Sam Cawkers of Scugog Point Rd., to have a wonderful visit with Neta Fish, over a tempting lunch at the Gate Restaurant; one day during the week; catching up on the news! Also...another delightful time, was the in- teresting visit with grand- daughter Dr. Cheryl Cawker of Peterborough, last Sunday at the farmstead! Very glad to report that Leona Sadler of Nestleton, is home from hospital and doing well, Irene McKee in Oshawa Hospital is also coming along great! Our best to these Nestleton folks! God Bless! Nestleton Presbyterian Church At the Presbyterian Church, Nestleton on Sunday, December 17 at 11:00 a.m., Mr. George Scott was the greeter. Joyce Taylor was the capable organist, and Winifred Davison lit the third Ad- vent Candle - "Joy." Rev. William Fairley spoke to the children on the theme of Love. Our old friends should be still loved at Christmas, as well as the new. Dorthy Lee conducted the Sunday School class. : The responsive Psalm was No. 146 and Scripture reading Isaiah 35:1-10 and St. Matthew 11: 1-11. Speaking on the thought "What do .you wish for Christmas," Rev. Fairley reminded the congrega- tion to keep God always in the centre of our lives, and in our preparations 'for Christmas...to . remember how He has guided in all the various times of our lives. The White Gifts brought by the congregation will be taken to Port Perry; as our contribution to the Food Band. Service on Sunday, December 24th at 11:00 a.m. will be conducted by Rev. Fairley. For the Sun- day School, the minister il- lustrated a little Christmas story re - the true Joy of Christmas, much to their delight! A choir number was rendered by the quartet with Carol Mairs at the paino. The offering was received by Richard MacKenzie and Leslie. This service closed with a favourtie hymn, "In the Bleak Mid Winter" - Benediction and Three Fold Amen. The White Gifts brought by the congregation will be taken to Port Perry to the Food Bank. Sunday School Christmas Concert On Sunday evening, December 17, at 7:30 p.m. saw a goodly number of parents, grandparents, and friends, at the Annual Nestleton United Sunday School Christmas Concert, with the superintendent Chris Davis at the helm, and Carol Mairs the able pianist for the interesting programme. In due time jolly old Santa ar- rived and treats were distributed to the excited youngsters. Lunch was served and a social time followed. Our appreciation to superintendent Chris Davis and to pianist Carol Mairs...and the Sun- day School staff for the effort put forth to give pleasure to the children, parents, grandparents and so forth...in this happy, joyous, festive, Yuletide Season! A Christmas Wish' Well!
