PORT PERRY STAR CHRISTMAS GREETINGS -- Tuesday, December 19, 1989 -- 9 ~~ Christmasto All! Students from Immaculate Conception write about the true meaning of Christmas If There Was No Christmas If there was no Christmas all the kids would cry. The mothers and fathers would sigh. Santa would be sad. The people would be mad. Kids couldn't care for the cute teddy bear. But if they care peo- ple could have Christmas anywhere. by James Wells, Immaculate Conception School No Christmas Everyone was at work in Santa land, since it was Christmas and toys were to be made. The elves were in the shop at the time when all of a sudden the power went out. Ce The head elf went to tell Santa but he was gone. He went back to the shop. He put the worker elves into groups to look for Santa Claus but he could not be found. It was coming closer to Christmas. "Christmas just might be cancelled, think about those poor children when they hear about this," said the head elf. The elves sent a letter to the governor saying that Santa had been captured. The whole world was sad when they heard. Then they got a letter. It said, "I've got Santa and there won't be a Christmas. Ha, ha, ha!" The lit- tle elves in their mind could hear the laughing. At the bottom it said "Scrooge.'"' Everyone knew where he lived. All of the elves marched over there ready to fight to get Santa back. They bribed Scrooge by saying he wouldn't get a present if he didn't let Santa go. So Scrooge let Santa go. Everyone had a Merry Christmas. by Jolene Chartrand, Immaculate Conception School The True Meaning of Chrismtas Little Jane said one night as her mother was tucking her in, 'What if there was no Christmas?" "Don't worry, said her mother soothingly, 'That will always come and never end." "But" said Jane who was only 5, "Jerry Michell in my class said that he was worried because his older brother Lee said Santa wasn't coming this year." Jane's mother then said calm- ly, 'Santa is coming this year, I promise." "But what if there was no Christmas?" '""There will always be a Christmas" said mother. "Why, if Santy Claus does not come, there will never be a Christmas!" "Jane dear, Santa is not the true meaning of Christmas." "It isn't?" "No. Mary was pregnant and travelling to Bethlehem by -donkey with her husband Joseph. They stopped at an inn and found no vacancy but only in the stables with the animals. So they went, and Mary had her baby. The almighty God said "This is the . Lord Jesus." "Mommy! I heard of him in school today!' squealed Jane in delight, excited that she knew who her mother was talking about for once. "God made a star in the sky and the angels came to sing and tell the shepherds to follow this yander star; to a lonely stable where a small babe - "Babe" Whats a babe" Jane questioned her mother. "To a small baby surrounded by hay and barn animals lay. Faraway the wisemen go to greet the new Lord with gifts of Gold, Frankensence, and Myrth. And all the shepherds with their sheep came and the drummer boy too. And that's the true meaning of Christmas." by Karina Grima, Immaculate Conception School It's the perfect opportunity for us to send you all our holiday best... along-with our thanks. CUMMINGS BACKHOE SERVICE Jack, Karen and Staff What If There Was No Christmas "Hi! My name is Jingle and boy do I have a Christmas story to tell you. It all started when all the elves were working hard to make the toys because Christmas was very soon. Then one elf said something that made all the elves turn and look at him. He said that he was thinking about what it would be like if there was no Christmas. "No Christmas!" one elf shouted. "There would be no presents, no fun," another one said. "Stop that!" I said. "There will always be Christmas!" Then Mrs. Santa Claus came in shouting, "It's....it's Santa," she said. He's sick! "SICK!" we shouted and ran into his room. "Santa, Santa, are you OK?" we asked. Then he opened his mouth slowly and said I don't think I'm going to be able to deliver the presents. '"'But the little boys and girls...you can't let them down!" Then Santa turned his head and looked at the big pile of letters sit- ting there, 'You're right," he said. "Load up the sleigh we're on our way!" by Katherine Ellis, Immaculate Conception School Dear Santa Dear Santa: I'm Shannon Threapleton. I just turned 3 years old this year.
