Hope everyone has been taking advantage of our winter weather and are enjoying it. Here in the Nursing Home we . have been keeping warm by tak- ing part in a bowling match on ~ Monday, January 8. Our top scorer of the day was Mr. Lionel Blaikie with 129 points. The following day was a clean- up day. Some took part in a sing- song. Throughout the afternoon on Wednesday we sponsored a 1989 in Review. Many favourite outings were discussed in much detail. On the 11th, many took part in painting silk scarves. We even made an autographed wall hanger for the Activity Room. Throughout the evening we had our monthly birthday party which was hosted by the Oddfellows Club. The week ended on Friday with a bingo followed by Cocktail Hour. Several residents took part playing shule, darts, ring toss and bucket toss. An '"'Outburst Quiz" was esented on Tuesday afternoon. ~ e monthly residents council "meeting took place on the 17th. It was a very long productive and successful meeting. The next day we had many residents busy working on unfinished crafts. Around the supper hour we had our "Supper Club" which featured delicious chinese food. We all had lots of fun reading our fortunes from our cookies. After cleaning up we had a discussion and quiz on China. We ended this week with baking up some muffins which were devoured at tea time later in the day. Birthday wishes are sent out to Mr. Lionel Blaikie (30), Mr. Bill Moroz (Feb. 1) and Mr. Earl Reader (5). On behalf of the residents and staff we extend our sincerest sym- pathy to the family and friends of several of our close friends here in the Nursing Home. We say good-bye to Mr. Hugh Santer, Mr. Harry Sanderson, Mrs. Dorothy Denton, Mr. Robert Newell and Mr. Norisse Howey. May they rest in peace. We send out a special welcome to Mr. Walter McGill from the Port Perry area and also to Mr. Edward Barnhardt from the Villa. . Upcoming events are Scottish Day (26), Snowflake Tea 2 p.m. (30) and Special Breakfast 9 a.m. (31).
