Scugog not interested in maintaining 7A Highway Scugog Township Council is not interested in the Ministry of Transportation's offer to pay expenses for maintenance on Highway 7A. The Ministry stated it is will- ing to let the Township under- e some maintenance of Highway 7A, at the Ministry's expense. This would include all as- of general maintenance, ut would not include winter maintenance. Items such as pavement repairs, drainage ditches, culvert clean-outs, lit- ter pick-up, grass cutting, and line painting etc., would be un- dertaken by the Township on the Ministry's behalf. The Ministry would be willing to contribute towards the cost of maintenance of this facility, and the Township would accept full responsibility for doing the work. The Ministry's portion of the cost of maintenance would be equivalent to what the Minis- try spends on an annual basis for the maintenance of this fa- cility. Any costs over and above this amount would be paid by the Township. There was also a request that several sections of single cable guide-rail on the Causeway needed to be replaced with three cable guide-rail. The Min- istry requested that the Town- ship undertake this project, with all costs being paid by the Ministry. According to Administrator Earl Cuddie, the council was not interested in the proposal, they want to explore more op- tions. He added that they will try to go back to their original plan of aving the garbage on the side- walks, and shoulders of the road be removed. The town wants to look into a cost shar- ing program with the Ministry on this proposal.
