co Letters Soccer grant clarification To the Editor: Re your article on the Soccer Club grant being denied. I would like to clear up one statement made in this report. The only assurances I received from government officials, is that when we re-apply for grant, that the grant would be considered at that time. Yours Truly, Ron Cosway. Soccer Club Building Chairman Fire proves need for a rural number system To the Editor: A short while ago our household had a fire which even though it was put out by ourselves, I called the Fire Department to double check that is was completely out, especially in the roof. I want to emphasize that this letter is not to critize the Fire Department but I was very upset with the length of time I spent on the phone giving details of where I lived and the correct spelling of my name. (Give me a break!) I guess the receipt of my Tax Bill makes me think that apart from Education and the Fire Department we country dwellers get precious little for our money. Could we not at least get the rural number system which several communities surrounding us have so our emergencies could be dealt with as efficiently as possible. Sincerely, Carole Chorostecki R.R. 2, Blackstock Violence in the stands (From page 8) titudes of violence! Good luck to both teams in this playoff series - to the young men of both teams: keep the tempers cool and listen to the coaches, not the ones who think they are coaches! Three cheers to the fans of Port Perry, they should have a hockey school for manners and the con- cept of watching a young men's hockey game!!! Yours truly, Trudy Rugelis Uxbridge. Editor's Note: Following a com- plaint lodged by a 60-year Stouff- ville woman, about the alleged in- cident in the stands, Durham Police charged 18-year Winston Watson of Markham with assault.
